Good but not great
I expected more from this drama. The beginning was really strong — no boring parts at all — but as it approached the ending, especially during the confrontation with the FL’s mother dying, I found myself confused. It felt like one of those cat memes going “huh?” The pacing and storytelling in the later episodes started to drag, and it became harder to watch.I appreciate that the drama tried to highlight themes of gender equality, but the execution sometimes felt forced. As a woman, instead of feeling inspired, I felt that the message was being pushed a little too hard. Some of the side characters’ storylines also felt underdeveloped and poorly written compared to the main arc.
That said, there are many strengths worth mentioning. I genuinely loved the chemistry between the leads — they carried the romance well and gave me those kilig moments. All of the actors, including the supporting cast, did a great job. The fight scenes were also beautifully choreographed and very enjoyable to watch.
Overall, it’s a decent series. I would recommend it, especially to fans of wuxia and those who enjoy strong and smart FL & ML dynamics. However, it didn’t give me that lasting “wow factor” to rank among my favorite wuxia C-dramas. Still, it was a worthwhile watch.

A MUST WATCH
One of the best C-dramas this year—well-written, fast-paced, and with amazing performances (the villain especially stood out!). Every character was interesting, and the mix of revenge and political intrigue kept me hooked.I’ll admit I felt uneasy about the main leads’ relationship since the male lead was married to the female lead’s sister before, but I appreciated that the drama focused more on revenge than romance. The ending was satisfying, and overall, this series is definitely worth watching.
