Synopsis
The drama is adapted from the Qimao novel Fancied You | 中意你. After suffering a double blow to both her love life and career, lacquer artist Su Mo returns to her hometown. While running a small lacquer art shop, she searches for her eldest senior brother—whom she has never met—in hopes of uncovering the truth behind their master's suicide. When lacquer artist Su Mo crosses paths with tattoo artist Qin Chen, a contract that begins with "pretending to be a couple" brings to light a young man's deeply hidden feelings from twelve years ago.
Through a blind date, she gets to know tattoo artist Qin Chen. To handle her ex-boyfriend, the two pretend to be a couple, but they gradually develop feelings for each other through daily companionship. Su Mo slowly discovers that Qin Chen's identity is not as simple as it seems—he turns out to be the eldest senior brother she has been desperately searching for, as well as her ex's cousin. It turns out that Qin Chen fell in love with Su Mo at first sight twelve years ago and has been silently protecting her over the years.
He secretly helps Su Mo reclaim her honor at the national lacquer art competition, clearing her master's name from plagiarism allegations. Furthermore, while investigating the truth behind her master's death, he uncovers the grievances and entanglements of the previous generation alongside her. Having gone through vindication in the competition and a crisis of life and death, Su Mo finally understands Qin Chen's restrained and deep love.
