I think she is more powerful than him as a warrior as she is on a higher level of cultivation, but now that he has the netherbeast core he will be more powerful than her overall. I see them as equals. Just because she was raised to be the greatest warrior doesn't mean she could hold that title forever and no one stronger than her would ever show up.

I'm seeing it as slow progress and not at one special time kind of thing, just a slowly progressing growing affection. I think she liked him early on she was just too busy scheming to really notice.
