I might get hated for saying this, but that confession scene just didn't have any chemistry from my perspective.…
...before realizing that YR had always been by his side, there were plenty of signs showing that he already started to see her as a woman and already developed feelings for her somewhere during those 7yrs.

We know of YR's character that she puts her needs and wants aside for those she loves (Family/Friends/Love Interest), it is likely that YR while mourning the absence o her friend also held her feelings towards JP inside out of loyalty to her friends feelings.

Also she knew how much JP liked JH, was mourning their break off and sudden disappearance. JP was also going through hard times so she might have thought it's not the right time to confess.

Besides that she in the first episodes she tried to confess to him but chose not to and kissed her love goodbye. So during those hard times they became friends and naturally developed, or for YR's case reeignited feelings for eachother.

It is not far fetched to realize the depth of one's feelings for a person when the look back and see they were always there for them, celebrating their achievements or giving the mental supports. JP developed a crush on YR but realized the depth of his feelings and importance of a loyal friend. He realizes she is wifey material and his best friend, not just a crush.

I agree that JP's confession was mostly crocodile tears and I am not fully trusting his words.... His confession…

JP's acting isn't the best, I agree. But imo it's really plausible and in a sense beautiful for him to fall in love with YR beforehand without knowing she liked him all along. He fell for her real self - goofy side, he couldn't see 7yrs ago when his friend had a crush on her.

If you watch closely you can see that JP is much more playful and acts more like a guy his age while keeping the balance of being protective and worried over YR. YR brings out that vibrant side in him , eventhough he has always been a monotone person, even around his guy friend back then.

I believe JP's character was trying to say all this during his confession. It's actually one the most genuine kind of love friendship to lovers developements bc JP naturally fell in love with YR for the woman she is, and realized he loved her even more and deeply bc she is his best friend.

jaepil and youngrye's confession scene did nothing for me. there was no chemistry, heck i wasnt even convinced…
Him cutting her off was supposed to symbolize his determination to confess to her and stop making her wait and also portray a sense of guilt for hearing her confession through radio bc she held a one-sided-love towards him for so long. It was the characters way of showing that he finally takes charge and as if he was saying: "No you shouldn't be the one to confess first, you have suffered long enough by yourself I want to show you that I finally reciprocate your feeling" .... it's not about cutting off people.

if i wrote this dramait was a great chance to make a compelling story about being in your messy 20s, being best…
Yeah that version would also make a great plot - with 16 ep probably. But I am happy for YR finally having her love reciprocrated

Title A Hundred Memories Spoiler
Who needs enemies when they have a friend like YR, shameless backstabber
You do know that JP was already in love with YR but only needed time to realize his feelings? So YH wouldn't even have a chance, unfortunately her time is over and JP got over her. Also how is YR backstabbing her friend when JP himself came all the way to Dongincheon to confess his feelings to her?? Both of the girls didn't actively pursue JP after their conversation and revealing they both liked the same guy...like YH said.. the left it to JP. And JP chose YR.

I'm very much feeling and thinking the same 💯 way that you are – and I also wouldn't be mad for being wrong…
I think it was really clear from the beginning that he was just teasing her with affection by calling her ugly. It's something that boys/men are known to do (teasing, I mean) when they are in love with a girl/woman they are too shy to confess to but want to get attention from.
