It's a must watch
It is definitely a standout, especially for fans of period dramas and stories about duty clashing with desire. It's a genuinely beautiful production that I would highly recommend. What really sold me on this series was the compelling dynamic between the two main leads, Prince Saenkaew and Sasin. The actors have such a strong, palpable chemistry that makes every shared glance and hesitant touch feel incredibly impactful. It's the kind of subtle yet intense connection that makes you root for them instantly.I also really liked the historical setting (specifically 1995 in this adaptation). It isn't just a backdrop; it’s a source of genuine conflict and emotional tension. The series portrays the significant pressure of tradition and political obligations on the characters in a way that feels realistic and heart-wrenching. The themes of societal expectation and the burden of family legacy are woven so well into the romance, elevating it beyond a simple love story. This added layer of drama and the emotional depth it created is why I kept coming back for more. While the political intrigue helps build the dramatic stakes, there are moments where the plot focuses a little too much on the secondary characters' schemes, slightly slowing down the pace of the main romance. I occasionally found myself eager for the story to return to the leads, but this is a very minor quibble for an otherwise great series.
If you appreciate a slow-burn romance set against a rich, challenging backdrop, and if you value superb acting and on-screen chemistry, you need to watch this. Love in the Moonlight beautifully explores how love can blossom even when it directly challenges everything a person is expected to be. It’s an underrated gem in the BL world that deserves all the praise.
