The cast isn't the main issue, the storytelling is. And it's not nostalgia speaking, I only watched Princess Agents two weeks ago for the first time.
The plot makes no sense and the characters act like lovesick fools who underwent a lobotomy. The story shifted from politics to romance, there is no nuance and everything relies on camera work to keep the viewer engaged.

Does anyone know who the screenwriters are? So I can steer clear of any of their dramas in the future.
This is the 3rd drama I watched from this director that disappointed me, so I will not watch any of his shows in the near future.

I usually can immerse myself in the world of a show without asking too many questions. But here the plot is so ridiculous, I cannot turn my brain off. Why was there a pyramid of dead bodies? How did the armour fit under the wedding robes? Why would soldiers jump through wooden panels of the houses in their own towns and destroy them instead of using the windows or doors? What happened with all the archers who were shooting at LYR? What is LYR doing in this show? Was he coerced to be in this drama?

When she reached the frozen lake, Chu Qiao has already had all her dreams and plans shattered, she had been unhappy with how things were being handled by Yan Xun for a long time, but decided to stay by his side hoping she could help him, and was mentally and emotionally drained due to all she experienced after fleeing the capital with Yan Xun.

Unfortunately, the new FL is too young and fresh-faced to convey the fatigue amd weariness her character is feeling at this point in the story.

Everyone who falls down in PoJ survives. So this frozen lake thing might be the new cdrama trope

To be honest, I enjoyed PA more, despite the cliffhanger ending.

I'm not sure I will like this show. At the moment it's too over-the-top, melodramatic and focused on "looking cool" for me.

Even if it will turn out something I don't enjoy, I am grateful it has brought Princess Agents to my attention as a fan who only started watching cdramas last August and who usually stayed away from pre-2020 cdramas. It has become one of my favourite shows despite ending on a cliffhanger.

it makes no sense for Yan Xun to get to the hall on his wedding day considering the emperor had no plans to let the wedding take place and actually planned to ambush and kill the groom on his way. How do you sneak an army into the palace ?!?

I was thinking the exact same thing when watching the opening scene.
Also how loose was Yan Xun's wedding gown and how thin was he in order for no one to notice that he was wearing an armour under wedding gown.

She was 17 and almost a half when the show was filmed. She has also starred in Perfect Match when she was 16 and a half and nobody had any problems.

Directors and screenwriters of cdramas are expert at romantic relationships without anything physical happening, so I'm sure that everything will be OK otherwise it wouldn't have passed censorship.

I think it's a remake because they keep the OG family names of the characters from the novel, not from Princess Agents. For example, Yuwen is Zhuge, Yuan is Zhao etc.
Also, the trailers show a lot of scenes from Princess Agents that are happening differently here.
And a final note, it doesn't seem that anyone from the previous project is involved in this one.

She filmed Perfect Match in 2024 and people didn't have an issue with that. So let's hope the director isn't pushing any boundaries in this drama.

I'm not sure how accurate this is, but Viki says 3 episodes are coming out tomorrow.

She played the female lead as a child in the original version and I think it's cool she gets to play the adult in the remake/sequel.
