I don't watch remakes of shows I've watched. I don't even watch Disney live-action. If it was nostalgia I was chasing after, I would have minded my business and stayed far away as I do with remakes wtv. What my rambling means is that; I wasn't expecting a copy and paste of season one.

Let’s even leave fandom wars, I’m sure fandom wars will always happen, there’ll always be insecurities and weird behaviours however the general audience outside of fandoms can see how the show fell short. What was promised wasn't given. And that's why I said I would hold on to it for the remaining episodes… Did you see how it was promoted? Did you see the vibe they promised but weren't given? Yeah, kinda what I mean. I know the fans will be on my ass soon. One is already here lmao. But anyone who genuinely just wants to enjoy bls without all the stanning stuff can see that calling season one a “flop” is diabolical and can also see that what was promised in season 2 (how it was marketed, its trailer etc) isn't what it’s giving.
I was excited for this one, fr. But it doesn't give what it should give. I've seen the arguments going on here. Stans of the couples going above and beyond to defend a show that really fell short of our expectations for real. Where's the excitement, where's the drama? Why are the characters playing it safe and why was the writer avoiding risks? And this is not me calling it boring it just doesn't stand out. Most people who are excited for weekly updates are fans of the couples.

No, you're oversimplifying it. Opening narration doesn't equate too much exposition or bad execution. Saying “older dramas don’t do this” isn’t really accurate. Supernatural and folklore dramas have always used narration to establish rules and motivations early. It’s a narrative tool, not a downgrade… execution matters more than the presence of exposition itself. And so what if you already know about Korea and it’s tales? Since the show began with that scene where Jimmy was heartbroken. Here’s what I think. I think Toh already wants revenge right after he heard Jimmy’s true intention. I think that's why Toh said to himself, “You can make him fall in love with you for real.” I don't think he said that to be delusional. First, he doesn't seem like the confrontational type, and letting Jimmy know/see how heartbroken Toh is will just give Jimmy the satisfaction he wants… Now is not the time to let Jimmy know that Toh knows what's going on. Just my opinion.
