I was going to watch it after it finished, and now that it’s already done… the comments are making me hesitate.I’ve…
You can have a go and see for yourself. It's just preference. I fast forwarded most scenes because I mainly watched it for Ruonan. They have to make her look older to show she is more mature and to match the ml. I think they also show the leads in their 40s. She looked younger in the BTS video clips of this drama. l I think they even had to put a wig on for some scenes to suit more older look. I have seen some of her offline pics she sometimes look like a cute teenager.
I think the writer was going for hard hitting realistic story and chose not to give all the characters ideal ending but want not convincing enough. It was disappointing to see Ran ran going through so much all the time. I felt like the chemistry between the leads were lacking. Probably because Ruonan and Jelly Lin look much younger than their partners in this drama which made the relationships less believable. Actors did great job with what they were given but the writer didn't do justice to most of their characters.
Honestly, I just fast forward to Zhang Ruonan's scenes. Every time she is on screen, she is captivating. The director should have focused more on the two leads instead of the side characters. Only likeable characters for me are Zhuang Zhuang , Ran Ran and Shen Li. Recent episodes are much better.
Watching this for my gorgeous girl Ruonan. I didn't even know this drama was released until I saw few clips of her from an event two days back. I guess this drama hasn't been promoted well. Having watched few episodes I can tell this is more for the Chinese TV audience. To be honest, I mostly skipped other scenes and watched only Ruonan's parts. She looks beautiful as usual. She has way more chemistry with the Ran Ran character than the male lead. Will try and watch it properly with the rest of the episodes.
He was a spy for his mom, but he made the FL’s parents see her relationship with the ML in a bad light. He told them she was dating a parent without any explanation, and he knew very well how her parents would react, especially given her past issues.
Can't stand the SML. He had no right to tell the FL’s parents about her and the ML, especially when he deliberately framed it negatively just to manipulate them and turn them against the relationship.
I feel that K drama viewers tend to be much harsher than C drama viewers. I’ve noticed that C drama viewers often praise even okish shows and give them relatively higher ratings. It just seem like some people are leaving deliberate hate comments.Constructive criticism is fine but attacking someone's looks is crossing the line. I initially rated this drama based on the first two episodes and now removed the rating since I will give it a chance after completing it.
The drama started well in the first few episodes. The leads had great chemistry and the cinematography was beautiful. However, the later episodes became too draggy and suddenly felt like a different genre show. Netflix also marketed the show as a rom com without giving any hint that it would delve into psychological themes. I think because of the writers and the cast, people had high expectations of this drama and were disappointed. But if people go with more open mind, it's not as bad as they might expect.
I watched this drama because of its high rating, but it was too dragged out. Aside from a few moments, most of the episodes were slow and unengaging. It's definitely not a 8.9 drama.
The drama initially had strong potential, with interesting characters. However, the story gradually lost its direction. The chemistry between the leads never fully worked, and the characters’ personalities were changed randomly without proper explanation. The final episodes set in the capital felt unnecessary, as they had little connection to the main plot and only further deviated from the core story.
