I am a K-drama fan, and this was actually my first time watching a Taiwanese drama—especially a GL series. Fragrance of the First Flower Bloom turned out to be pretty good. The delivery of the lines, as well as the lines themselves, felt very realistic. All of the characters expressed natural emotions, and the story really hits home.

Although I do agree that Ting Ting could have ended up with the new girl who shared the same interests as her, the way the story ended still felt satisfying. It reminds me that the heart knows what it wants and will always go for it. The choice Ting Ting made, despite the uncertainty of whether her love would be reciprocated, is unimaginable and, for some, might seem a bit foolish. I love how the story unfolded and gradually explained why she chose to do what she did.

As for Yi Ming’s character, I found myself empathizing with her as well. Even though I was often annoyed by her inability to fight for her love, I also understand that coming out is not the same for everyone. Some people find it easier, while others struggle much more. The movie portrayed these different perspectives in a very realistic way. It's also a good reminder that honesty and accepting things as they are can set you free and eventually bring you more peace.

Because of this movie, I’m now leaning toward watching more Taiwanese dramas.
