There’s so many people saying they didn’t like the pairing and I’m here like what are they seeing different? They were such a great pairing. Both eyecandies and their romance was so good.
I get everyone’s sentiments about the ending too. They definitely failed to hit the mark, which is such a shame considering how top-tier the show was.
They took so many risks throughout the entire show, so why not do the same with the ending? It really felt like they were trying to play a risky yet safe game at the same time, and all it did was make the ending fall flat.
I don’t agree that the show lacked the time to pull it off, though. I feel like they had more than enough time but simply didn’t utilize it properly to tie everything up in an interesting way.
It totally makes sense why Jirat gave up, since being a Nour went completely against his philosophy. But they should’ve shown Chita fighting back a lot more. Like, as cliche as it sounds, they could’ve made James and Chita closer first and then play into this whole thing where Chita genuinely changes and has insane guilt for what he did to a friend’s father. Two birds with one stone. We also didn’t need the whole last minute “lovers separated” trope in a show as busy and unique as this one. We’ve seen that in way too many Thai BLs already. I don’t know why the writer didn’t think there were more important topics to touch on.
They should’ve made James’ past life a much bigger deal, too. Like, a super simple fix would’ve been to make it so that Ken’s soul had simply been waiting for his and James’ souls to reunite, and now that they finally had, he could die peacefully. Or atleast that James is also someone who could take or give lives to a Nour.
Plus rather than giving us that random romantic scene with the third couple, they should’ve shown how Jirat’s family dealt with the news, considering how important they were to his storyline.
This was the most Taiwanese BL-coded Thai BL ever lol. It’s like they combined History 3: Trapped and MODC but with vampires.
I think I really liked this one, though. It definitely deserved more hype and viewership than it got, but I guess it might be a bit too heavy of a watch for the younger BL audience.
Could the execution have been better? Sure. I think they could’ve made the plot a lot more complex, but all in all, I think it was a really well-done show from start to finish. I have a feeling this is one of those shows we’ll look back on fondly years from now, much like Not Me.
It's great that you enjoyed DWY. I don't find shows like Your Sky and Duang With You outright bad... it's just I find it that Domundi shows really hit better for me when they do more unique plots. I plan to rewatch DWY when I'm over my high school/uni setting fatigue lol.
3 eps in. First impression is that this pairing has to be the most handsome pairing we've gotten in a Thai BL in a very, very long time. I was so right to be excited about this show when it was first announced. I had a feeling it’d have a dark horse moment. My only disappointment would be the sound design, otherwise the series really looks great production and plot wise.
Tong, you might just become my favorite veteran actor to make the jump to leading roles in BL.
This show was an enjoyable watch but I kinda dislike how disconnected the romance was. Like first few eps, they do well showing us both the plot and the romance unfolding at the same time but then all of a sudden, the plot pretty much becomes stagnant and we have this sole focus on the romance and then we just snap back to wrapping up the plot mainly and the romance aspect starts suffering.
I definitely would've loved to see romance being more seamlessly integrated.

That would be so cool tbh. Imagine a proper F4 remake but it's BL/GL. I know we've had many stories inspired from it but like a full on proper BL adaptation sounds so fun.

TBH, I don't think it even looks as good as some other high production Thai BLs we've gotten. The standard for GMMTV is really low. Their high budget just includes shooting using a mid level cinematic camera instead of an entry level TV camera lol.
Really random place to comment this but I'm slowly getting back into BLs/queer media after a long break and I think I really do prefer Japan the most in this genre with Thailand second close. Haven't really tapped into the Chinese BL scene yet but I know for sure that Korea (and sometimes Taiwan too)'s industry is just pretty much stuck at the very bottom. No evolution there. Only very few top notch moments here and there.
What I really like about Japanese BL/queer media is that they're quick to the point about everything and the plots really tend to be more interesting. Sadly, this does sometimes lead to the romantic content coming across as lacking because they focus too much on the plot. JBL plot lines just do it for me. They do the classic tropes the best hands down.
Thailand has had the opposite problem for the longest. There's romance but never proper plot progression. Very few quality shows did the latter. (Shout out to BeOnCloud) But the industry is getting bigger and bigger and I'm noticing they're getting noticeably better and are able to strike the balance better. Even Domundi who made the biggest cringefest BLss is delivering above average shows now. Despite such high productions, Thai BLs still come across as very amateur and rough around the corners. The shows just feel too corporate-y and purposefully crafted to garner fixed ship fans rather than delivering an actual good story.
Korea did not progress at all. Sadly. The pattern is us getting a single hit KBL every year and it's not even that high production. I just don't get why the KBL industry won't grow when even CBLs despite insane restrictions are already growing so much faster.

This wasn't a life changing K-BL/gay romance show like Love in The Big City, The Eighth Sense, you name it. But I'm glad that it was successful especially after taking some bold risks when it comes to the nudity. KBLs need to make a return and I hope this kickstarts the momentum for production companies to pick BL scripts again.
This was enjoyable but it suffers a lot from its run length. Just way too much stuff is condensed. Ignoring the AI slop and that terrible excuse of a green screen ending scene to make up for the low budget, I still liked the production. The choice of color grading was pretty great.
I'm probably in the minority but I found the story pretty average. Feels like it doesn't take the risks it really should have. BUT! One thing I'll give this series its 10s for is something I was skeptical of at first and that is its cinematography. The color grading was really great and I hope more BLs are taking notes from this one. Clairebell and this probably gotta be the Thai queer media with best color grading thus far.
The original was the kind of show that was pretty bad, but you watched it anyway because there were so few BLs back then. The OG had lots of tropes that would be considered problematic today so I might tune in to see how they'll tackle them.

If I were to watch this show while it was airing, I would probably drop it. It's a type of drama you really have to bingewatch otherwise you'd lose all the interest. I hope you do enjoy it.
Hot take: I miss this exact era of BL. Right before the another global wave hit. I love all the high production shows we're getting but I liked it so much more when the production companies didn't make BLs to make fans of a certain fixed ship happy and soft launch new actors for a fixed ship. Each show had a purpose and each show would have carefully selected actors.
I don't know. I just found it nice that the Thai BL industry wasn't shackled by fixed ships. Before they completely locked in with the idea of fixed ships, it really felt like we'd get roles assigned to a talented actor best suited for it. I know this practice is why this industry became so successful money-wise in the first place but I feel like it limits the actor's capabilities to grow and try new dynamics. It's why Ohm eventually became such a great actor in the first place. From Make It Right to Dew to this to Bad Buddy, he constantly had a new partner to adapt his dynamics to.
