Despite my disappointment with the production quality in the trailer (it's not bad at all but it just could be so much more high quality), I still hope the show is great. The premise is the most interesting thing to come from GMMTV in ages.

Sadly, GMMTV shows always play too safe where they force a happy ending just to not enrage the viewers and I'm worried it might not fit this show at all. I hope P'Aof manages to atleast nail a more bittersweet vibe and ending for this one. If you want to leave an impact and a message, you have to do it perfectly from start to finish. Please don't screw up at the finish line.

This looks really promising. I love when a BL has actual great acting. Tongtong and this Boss guy actually seem work well together as well. Really excited for this.

You couldn't help yourself bring other shows into this, could you? I hope you're not expecting space ships CGI…
Obviously not? Just look at the movie Your Name Engraved Herein this show was heavily inspired from or even Shine from BeOnCloud. No CGI at all but you can instantly notice the higher quality.

GMMTV fans were arguing with me that this show would have the same budget as their straight bromance show Wu and the Scarlet Heart remake and GMMTV doesn't discriminate giving extremely high budgets to their most anticipated BLs. The official trailer proves that to be far from truth lol! The blurry grainy camerawork and the lightning is an embarassment when you compare it to what GMMTV has done for those shows. Atleast P'Aof has great artistic sense to give it a nice color grading. Disappointed when it comes to the production but I know GMMTV will never treat BLs and give them mainstream polish they give only to their non BL shows.

Oh well. Super excited to see Sinjai Plengpanich in this. She's definitely gonna give yet another legendary acting performance here.

For such a short series, I'm surprised I enjoyed it so much. I've never felt this way with a low budget BL since starting my BL journey way back lol. Power of having unique premises and plot! Such a shame it was this short. They could really expand on the throuple plot.

I really liked it. I do hate that their relationship is more up to "interpretation" but I think the show was really beautiful.

Next, I wish for Netflix JP to produce a gay romance show similar to 'This Is I' where they explore queer joy heavily but still touch on their struggles in a very respectful and realistic manner. Not that I have anything against heavy shows (they're my favorite), I just think they'd be far more successful this way and who doesn't want to see more Japanese gay romance stories with insanely high budget?

My personal hot take: The trailer is promising, they managed to nail the erotic theme, the actors are far from being ugly, they look the part, and for a short reels BL the budget seems pretty decent. So I think the hate is quite exagerrated.

I do wish it wasn't in vertical format in some random new app though because I think this actually had potential to become a hit if they put it in a proper streaming service.

Shocking, I know, but...you can actually have all the things...a great story...AND kisses...AND naked scenes...I…
heated rivalry comes to my mind when you say that. it literally mixes queer joy, struggle, and all the steamy scenes into one. wish more asian bls did that.

I think people will be upset if they tune in expecting explicit showcase of romance in this show. It will be gay but it’ll be very implicit doomed romance.

This director in past made a similar show where the goal was to portray a sadly realistic depiction of queer lives in Japan where you have to give up yourself to conform to preserving the culture.

And what about your complaint regarding "weak hero"?
Thailand is much more open to queer stories than Korea yet GMMTV still wants to cater to the homophobic audience. This comment is not the “gotchya” you think it is.

Weak Hero Class also feeds on homophobia fueled “bromance” delusion. That’s why I’m here so against a more progressive country like Thailand shifting towards from BL to “safer” bromances. And atleast one of the lead actors (Hong Kyung) in that show proudly played a gay role in a movie unlike the lead actors here.

When Korea removed the gay elements from High School Return of a Gangster and turned it into bromance, I was there day 1 criticizing them harshly.

No one’s hating the actors. No one’s hating the show. People are just calling out GMMTV for their practices.…
I’m glad people are finally calling out GMMTV. Honestly, I’m not surprised they gave yet another non queer show more budget. They have always been slightly homophobic thinking the best way to earn more money is from non queer shows. I already saw this entire situation happen once except no one called them out. When BrightWin became a huge phenomenon, GMMTV’s first response was to “promote” them into hetero roles with those shows having much bigger budgets. They’ve always moved like this, but lately it feels worse. They’re putting mediocre efforts for the BLs, cashing in on the fans, and then using that profit to fund their few select non-BL/GL projects.

I just don’t understand why. Sure, the F4 remake did well, but so many BL shows have matched or even surpassed that level of success. So why don’t BLs get the same funding? Now projects like Scarlet Heart remake and now this are getting the better end of the stick. Why not give that same treatment to BLs that bring in just as much, if not more, success?

Meanwhile, other BL-focused companies are making sure every series they produce gets the highest quality they can afford. So why does GMMTV seem to reserve that level of investment for non-queer shows instead of the BLs that helped build their success?

I wonder If things would change If they got the audience reception before they wrecked the shooting process. Because…
The weak resolutions and unnecessary plots in the last two episodes is what made me disappointed. Otherwise, the show was an easy 10/10 for me. There were so many creative and funny moments in the entire show but the ending felt so stale to me in comparison.

This show got some nice engagement even for the pilot trailer itself. I think GMMTV just rushed to get done with the show because they have so many other shows to produce. Quantity over quality is sadly starting to show.

Before I say anything else, I enjoyed the show. I usually cringe at romcoms and prefer mature BLs but this one actually had surprisingly well done comedic moments. The campiness and absurdness sells. I felt many scenarios were actually well thought and I totally get why everyone on my timeline was obsessed with Thee. I will dearly miss him.

That said, I feel it still leaves a lot left to be desired. For me this is yet another GMMTV show that is excellent until the very last few episodes and I don't know how or why they manage to never land a high for the final few eps. I could go on and on about the flaws this show had but I don't think that's the fundamental problem here.

GMMTV hit a gold mine with the script, characters and the casting but it's sad when you compare this show to other production companies' shows and see how much more production value and love they put in for their shows (like Khemjira, Gelboys, Shine and so on). I just feel like this was such a great show and it deserved so much more trust and push production wise. I feel like with a better and grander execution, this easily could've been Thee ultimate romcom Thai BL and that's what annoys me so much. I hate when shows end up this close to being so good but their potential feels unrealized.

Still, definitely a good output from GMMTV in a very long time. I think we're actually going to see the love this show deserved from the production team with the special episodes it's gonna get.

Title Khemjira Spoiler
Well, I'm a bit hard to please but I still do think this series got the ratings and success it deserved solely…
Most memorable scenes to me (spoilers ahead): Peem's introduction in Ep 1. Just very handsome.
The flashbacks in Ep 2 and 3. Didn't expect past lives trope at all but it was done really well.
The rain scene and everything leading up to it in Ep 3. It's the only time I liked Khem's character because he actually didn't put up with Peem's attitude and stood as an equal. It's the moment where I started wishing that Khem's character was a bit more bratty when needed.
Peem carrying Khem in Ep 4. That is good romance showing that things aren't as one sided as it seems.
The famous powder scene in Ep 5. Loved the romantic angst in Ep 7 too.
The ritual scene in Ep 8. Gave me goosebumps and actually a genius way to change the focus back into the main plot.
Rampheung's background in Ep 9, Peem crying in Ep 9 and Rampheung holding her child again in the final ep. Like I actually felt sad and almost cried here.
Ep 10 and 11 were meh to me and felt out of place but I found the forest and the car hugging scene very romantic and the right type of melancholic.
Peem being accidentally romantic infront of Peem's father in Ep 12.

And my most favorite one when Peem first asks Khem to call him Peem. I forgot which ep it was.

Least favorite aspects for me: the childhood trope. It added nothing at all. Way too many farewells. If we're going to say goodbye to a character, can it not be 3 times? Peem somewhat losing his personality after the main plot was over. Sure, you could argue he's warmed up after Khem but that quick is crazy. Khemmika dying not even knowing the reason the way Khemjira was informed. The jealousy arc lasting 2 episodes. We deserved more swoonworthy moments developing their relationship over it instead to be honest. The original pilot had a scene where Peem and Khem get caught and Peem casts a spell to make them fall asleep. We deserved more moments like that.

Overall, as I type all of this, I think I actually enjoyed this series more than I thought I did. I don't know much about Thai BL production companies but whoever is behind this one definitely needs to keep up.

Well, I'm a bit hard to please but I still do think this series got the ratings and success it deserved solely for the effort put in by everyone behind it and because it still had a lot of memorable moments. The plot hard carried for me because the moment the main plot was over, I wasn't interested in the rest of the finale ep at all. I just think the main characters were a bit weak in comparison to the supporting ones. Only the gorgeous Peem and the ladies was the reason I kept watching till the very end and I do feel like they were the only characters that were well fleshed out and had solid character development.

I understand why Khem was that way, I mean who wouldn't be, but c'mon. Gave way too much of damsel in distress. The actor behind the character was a bit of a mixed bag to me. At times, I thought he was great but then his acting would randomly be so stiff in the very next scene.

Overall, I liked it more than the way I'm wording it. Production wise, I would say I'm truly impressed. It's like a high quality K-drama you'd see on Netflix but it's a BL instead. Amazing to think how far this genre has come. I think the show is a solid 8/10 and does good at what it's supposed to do. I just wish it had more of an artistic approach to it too like BeOnCloud shows or the guy who's behind GelBoys and ITSAY. I like how serious the plot was but I prefer far more mature shows. My friend recommended me this, Shine, and Me and Thee as the best BLs from 2025 and I've only watched this one so far. If anyone has other recommendations from last year, feel free to share them as I didn't get to watch any BLs last year because of my hectic schedule. The only other BL I watched last year was Our Youth (JBL) and I really loved that one.
