So before I watched this show I read reviews and most were actually good ratings (about 70-80%) but one thing they all agreed on or rather a few did was that the ending wasn’t satisfactory enough, that he went through all that just for everything to end like it did with the “open ending”In most cases I would agree but I think it fit best in the way the show led up until that finale. His goal wasn’t to make anyone die but he had just one person in mind that he wanted to suffer (not die) which in my opinion it was satisfactory what happened to her. Others were just bonus of his revenge so of course it’ll feel like it wasn’t satisfactory but how it ended was satisfactory for me.I’m not a big fan of “open endings” too, cos I start pondering for days and imagining possible scenarios of what happens after, I don’t like that. But in this case the open ending to me was done right cos let’s be honest that ending was an open ending. Especially the relationship between kang pil and Na mo, that for me I can actually see something there down the line (and it’s not wishful thinking) cos her personality shown throughout the show you can tell that she doesn’t really give up on what she wants and she even said it in their convo before he was arrested. That being said I feel like if the show were to have an extra episode I’d bet they’ll become friends as time progresses and it heals both their wounds and that distance she mentioned too before he was arrested will start shorteningHence my statement of why I feel this particular open ending was done right. People found Na MO’s character annoying but I never for once thought that cos despite kang pil using her for his revenge and how heartbroken she was, she still wanted him to leave with her. That’s not someone that’s weak imo. Anyway they had good chemistry (don’t know what people are saying that they didn’t)All in all I’d give it an 8.5/10, so the MDL rating is correct imo. Maybe if it went from 8.0 to 8.3 but nothing more. I know I only talked about the 2 main leads but the others were good in their portrayal as well. Bu cheon was good too, felt pity for him throughout the show and that’s why Na Mo also loved him. You could tell he’s a good guy or at least trying to be good but his mum practically owned his life and suffocated him with her expectations. The ending of his arc was ok as well, him coming back to Cheon A after leaving to apply for the CEO position (which he’ll obviously not win cos kang applied too 😅) but still good end to his arc. Good show and production but the selling point for me is really the OST during each cliffhanger or reveal, it always got me hyped for the next scene or episode. I enjoyed this show and glad I watched it but I’m sad about the romance cos I’m a romance guy and the 2 shows I’ve watched of jang hyuk (wok of love and money flower) he always get the short end of the stick when it comes to the romance with the fl. I would truly like for once to see him get the girl 😔 but in this case it was understandable cos of his revenge. Moral of the story is when trying to get revenge, you can’t expect to get everything you want after cos you destroy lives in the process and at the end something has to give, which is what happened to kang pil. If you made it all the way here I just want to say thank you for reading my long thought process disguised as a review 😅 after watching I just wanted to get this off my chest cos this is how I feel, so thank you.
