There's a reason Kdramas are more popular. Besides having consistently good production and acting (though Cdramas have improved A LOT in those areas recently) dramas are entertainment at the end of the day. People watch them after a long day to relax. Some watch while eating or multitasking, esp international viewers who already have to read subtitles.

Simple stories often work better. One reason Kdramas became so popular is that they don't overcomplicate things but still manage to make them interesting.
Dramas aren't everyone's whole life. Most people are just viewers, not hardcore fans. I've seen plenty of Cdrama fans admit they skip the political parts or rely on comment sections to understand them.
The truth is, most people want dramas that don't demand too many brain cells but still entertain them to the fullest

It's not morally wrong because they weren't raised as siblings. It's not like one saw the other as family while the other had romantic feelings, and their parents aren't even married. While I'm not particularly fond of this trope, I do think bold and unconventional stories are refreshing

Nowadays, dramas don't even dare to do proper enemies to lovers anymore. Their enmity is basically being kindergarten academic rivals. That's cute but it's hardly enemies-to-lovers.

Watching the same sweet or safe relationships all the time gets boring. Different dramas should have different flavors.

But I can see why some people find it uncomfortable. That's why different tropes exist

I swear X is not a real place😭It's like an alternate version of the world. In real life, women usually get more criticism while on X, men get cooked for everything. On there, a mid male actor gets treated like he killed someone but a mid actress gets praised to the sky

This kind of plot works much better as a short drama where the main focus is romance, so the audience actually gets what they came for. Right now, it’s not delivering on the political side or the romance side

Are you watching her for the first time? Because that’s pretty much her signature acting style. People say she’s a good actress but I’ve always felt she doesn’t have much variety in her expressions. Still she’s ok to watch but sometimes she makes this awkward expression where I can’t tell if she’s supposed to be confused, sad or shy

His company clearly has strong resources and lobbying power. I spent some time on RedNote and he’s probably signed with Tencent too, which is likely why he signed his rights for their AI dramas.
He is popular but even actors with bigger public popularity don’t get the level of resources he does. He’s getting top scripts every few months. He even landed a high level drama before properly proving himself as a male lead, right after breaking out from mjty as a supporting role.
Even I liked him more than ml in that drama but realistically, most actors don’t keep getting major projects back to back just because they outshined in a supporting role. The whole thing is about resources

Came here excited after seeing all the edits, only to find out it’s just another modern Cdrama where the leads meet as teenagers, drift apart and reunite later. I’m so tired of this trope. It’s not even cute,just filled with sufferings. Feels like 80% of upcoming modern cdramas have exact same storyline.

Nowadays there’s a lot of discourse about male leads being virgins but no one says anything when it’s the female lead who’s assumed to be a virgin.

This drama has had some of the weirdest and most forced hate comments since the beginning. Now that it’s finished, the neutral viewers and most fans have moved on, yet the same hateful people are still here wasting their time hating on it.

Getting almost 25 minutes of happy ending in a 12-episode drama is actually rare. I was waiting for some good news tho

An 8.4 rating really isn’t bad, considering Kdramas were mostly getting ratings in the 7s just a few months ago. Even among the recent airing dramas, this one still has one of the highest ratings. And the finale is today, so nothing’s even fully revealed yet.

Do people actually like the scenes between the two secretaries? They don’t really seem to have any chemistry to me, just two funny and nice people together. If this were a 16-episode drama, it would’ve been more interesting to have the PM and QM as the second couple instead
