Ngl, she had every chance to come clean after ep 20 but we are not ready for that conversation ig? Sure she had some story that kept her from telling the truth but he literally told her everything about himself and he let his past reveal infront of her his weakness and everything for what it is worth but come on! no background story ( that didn’t release ) justifies her lies. it got too annoying at some point. They dragged the lie for too long. it wasn’t a cup of my tea so it took me ages to finish even though people were all swooning over it but a mid for me ngl. Not bad but not good either. pretty avg.

You must be young. This is an average Cdrama. Good star, regular ending.
I have been watching cdramas for 10 years now. But sure you do you. I love this one no matter what others say. Sure ending could have done better but I simply loved it ! You can’t make assumptions about me tho!

they might but that doesn’t justify the lacklusterness

As long as the twists are satisfyingly explained by the end, and each episode is entertaining and does not just…
right! i mean I am fine with twists and turns but not everything at once yk what I mean? it just felt everywhere

are there any other couples?
no. there were one who almost got married but broke up due to the same reason our leads brokeup within 20 minutes… makes no sense to me imo. cause I understand if you love someone, you don’t necessarily have to date if you are not compatible but here they dated anyways knowing they were “ticking bomb” for each other and broke up within the same episode and it is almost near the end so idk what emotional depth to expect from this drama. as if the leads did not even try to understand each other and find a common ground ( which is what this drama is about btw.. mediation!! everything feels so surfacely done. and no side couples either. except if you are gonna count the already married ones

On Pursuit of Jade Apr 7, 2026
this drama did something to me. something irreversible. i started it as one person and finished it as a completely different person and i think that needs to be acknowledged
and before anyone questions my taste let me establish my credentials real quick. i have been a zhang linghe glazer since love between fairy and devil. SINCE THEN. i have watched everything this man has been in. every project every look every era i have seen it all and i am telling you right now with full confidence and zero bias (okay maybe a little bias but its earned bias) that pursuit of jade is his best look yet. unbeatable. and tian xiwei i have followed her for so long as well watched so much of her work and THIS is her best too. both of them peaking in the same drama at the same time?? the universe was just showing off at that point and we were simply blessed enough to witness it
not a single bad angle between the two of them. not one. not a single second in the entire drama where either of them looked anything less than completely ethereal and this includes scenes where they were literally on the verge of death!! half conscious barely breathing clearly suffering and still looking like THAT?? i have watched zhang linghe look good in many things i thought i was prepared. i was not prepared for this. and same with xiwei she has always been stunning but something about this drama just hit different. these two just decided they were going to be the most beautiful people to ever exist in a historical drama and then they did it like it was nothing
but if you came here thinking this is just a pretty drama to look at then babe you missed everything and we need to have a conversation
the people calling xie zheng weak genuinely hurt my feelings because that take misses the entire point of his character. this man escaped death. ESCAPED IT. and yall want him to come back immediately doing cool sword stuff and proving himself?? he was already the marquis of wu’an with his own troops and a whole legacy built before episode one even started!! he had nothing left to prove!! Marquis doesn’t have to prove why he is a marquis. the drama understood that!! so instead of giving us yet another male lead who needs to constantly flex his capabilities every five minutes they gave fan changyu the spotlight she deserved and let her fully resolve what was hers to resolve. she carried this drama on her back with a butcher’s knife and pure stubbornness and only then did xie zheng step in to finish what was his. that balance was so intentional and so well done and honestly so rare to see in a historical drama and i had to pause mid episode multiple times just to appreciate it
also the way they softened xie zheng from his novel version?? novel readers you know what i’m talking about. that man in the book was not soft at all not even slightly. and the drama pulled back just enough to give us all these warm wholesome moments the novel never really allowed. changning getting her unofficial parents through them was so tender and so quietly beautiful. that little found family arc grew so naturally without ever feeling forced and those moments were honestly some of my favorites in the whole drama. so grateful they made that choice because we got so much more sweetness out of it
the child actors were incredible and nobody talks about them enough. they built the emotional foundation for everything that came after and they did it so well. snow kong was amazing. honestly everyone was amazing. not a single dull character not a single wasted role the whole cast just showed up and delivered
and wei yan. okay wei yan. a villain you can actually understand hits so differently than one you just hate and wei yan was exactly that kind of villain. you could follow his logic even while watching him do genuinely awful things and that kind of grey morally complex writing is so hard to pull off and they did it so well. terrible person. completely understandable. both things at once. love to see it
and the behind the scenes detail of their managers not getting along in real life while these two were out here giving us one of the best on screen pairings in recent cdrama history is the funniest thing i have ever heard in my life. the professionalism. the absolute refusal to let any of that affect what they were building on screen. they just showed up and gave us THAT and then went home. legends honestly
pursuit of jade you changed the game and i was here for all of it and i am still not over it and i don’t think i ever will be
( hate the leakers tho )

I guess it depends on the person because I love all those mysteries and twists and confusion 😭 There's many…
it does! I understand why someone would like it but for me it was a bit too much of everything. Especially the camerawork! they look stunning!!! but somehow that’s the problem cause it was definitely not the time for them to stun me like that

okay so where do i even start with this. the cast is genuinely incredible, Chen Duling, Ju Jingyi, Joseph Zeng, Tian Jiarui, these four could carry a drama on talent alone and they absolutely do because lord knows the writing isn’t doing it for them. Sisters are seductive as a fox should be. the ACTORS understood the assignment. the drama itself? chaotic at best.
first of all the timelines. i have rewound, paused and googled, tiktoked my way through this show and i STILL have more questions than answers. there are so many threads going on at once, the fox mission, the demon hunters, the Dragon Deity lore, the thousand year backstory and somehow none of them feel resolved before a new one gets thrown at you. i genuinely understand this plot better from tiktok comment sections than from actually watching it. and that’s not a compliment to tiktok btw. ( trust me I have watched cdramas for 10 years now so it shouldn’t have been this hard to understand )
and the camera work omg. i get that guo jingming wants it to feel cinematic and grand but bro. everyone standing in a perfect line with a slow zoom and the wind machine going crazy during a serious scene?? i cannot feel any tension when it looks like a vogue photoshoot. the visuals are pretty yeah but pretty is seasoning not the meal and this drama forgot to cook. ( I mean MJTY was also from him and he did zhang linghe so good in it with cameraworks but.. sweet also tastes bitter when taken too much )
also the “too much” problem is very real. too many timelines, too much lore, too many characters with seventeen hidden identities (ji ling being a fox puppet who is also part of longshan who is ALSO the dragon deity… come on now). sweetness hits different when it’s not being shoved at you nonstop. moderation is a thing that exists.
honestly it could’ve been so good. solid IP, incredible cast, clearly a huge budget. but it just collapses under the weight of its own ambition. all style and scattered plot. i’ll finish it for the actors because i love them. definitely not for the plot because at this point i have fully made peace with never understanding it lmao. But I love the actors. I am throwing hands at anyone who says bad about them.

On Hold a Court Now Apr 7, 2026
okay so i gave this a shot because gong jun and i have never felt so betrayed in my life.
the leads have ZERO chemistry and i mean zero. like clinically certified zero. a judge and a lawyer constantly in each other’s orbit and i feel less romantic tension than i do watching two strangers wait for the same bus. the slow burn? it’s not even slow burn at this point it’s just cold. room temperature water. nothing.
and before someone comes in the comments saying “it’s not about the romance it’s about the cases!!” okay FINE. then make the cases interesting!! family court has so much potential, divorce, custody, inheritance, parents vs children, this is genuinely dramatic real life stuff that writes itself. and somehow this drama made it boring. They had everything of the mentioned cases but I really couldn’t understand and get hooked with any of the cases cause it started and ended without knowing. that takes talent actually. the kind of talent nobody asked for.
i genuinely cannot tell you when one case starts or ends. they just bleed into each other like a watercolor painting left in the rain. i sat there watching and waiting for a moment to grip me and it never came. i understand more about what happened in each case from staring at the wall than from actually paying attention to the screen.
the voiceover being out of sync with the lip movement is sending me because you’re already struggling to feel emotionally invested and then the voice doesn’t match the mouth and suddenly you’re a film student analyzing dubbing quality instead of crying over a custody battle like you were supposed to.
they also got together and broke up within 20 minutes of being a couple. twenty. minutes. i’ve had snacks that lasted longer than that relationship. i didn’t even have time to ship them before the drama decided to unship them for me. thanks i guess.
and the characters are either completely emotionally flat or so exaggerated you feel nothing either way. there’s no middle ground. no nuance. just cardboard people standing in a courtroom looking serious while i sit here completely unbothered.
i get it, chinese legal scenario love the mediation angle, everyone wins a little, nobody loses too much, harmony is restored, beautiful. but in drama format that means every single resolution feels like a damp handshake. no satisfaction, no catharsis, just “okay that case is done i guess” and then we move on to the next one i also won’t care about.
gong jun carried the so many good dramas on his back and this is what he got handed next. i’m not mad i’m just disappointed. actually no i’m a little mad.

apparently everything? i am also so confused
they work under schedule and the thing is if they publish here they have to publish on TV as well in the designated channel. which isn’t possible due to scheduling conflict with other shows but let’s see how it turns out. but better not to watch rn just to respect the actor and actress’s and the whole production team’s hardwork
