The issue with Chang Xi and Yan Zhao is that their interactions don't look like fan service or done to create hype for series. It looks like how actors of old bl shows used to interact before the genre got popular.

Isn't showing gay characters jumping straight to bed without deep emotional connection more homophobic? That pushes the stereotype that gay love is more focused on lust than actual feelings like straight love. You have a completely different way of looking at romance genre than I do I guess. There's no point of arguing over it.

I'm one of those people who wanted it to be slower. I wanted Liyu Yi's avoidant personality and trauma and He Chusan's devotion and patience to shine properly. I wanted the complicated crazy characters and intertwined storylines like novel. I feel like nowadays a lot of BLs just sell because of "special" scenes. I'm happy that I finally got a slow burn serious BL even if it's not as much of slow burn or serious as I wanted. They did a good job based on the budget and the market they are working in.

You know meaningful glances and silly flirtations accompanied by sound effects between two men is also gay romance. Not every show has to have naked makeout session to be considered a romance.

Also nitpicking but the exact glass removing scene, in close up shots, He Chu San is tending to one wound and in far away shots, he's tending to another. That continuity issue took me out of that scene.

Exactly. How come revenged love has 24 season when in that story, one conflict rises with another and doesn't have empact on beginning and ending of the story. While a long complicated story that's intertwined like this get only 9 episodes.

I'm actually sad they didn't give any scene of Dong Dong's gf (the one who trapped the police officer) . She's one crazy character.

Well LY and QL were in love in novel but their relation was very different than LY and HCS relationship.

Second couple doesn't have that many scenes in the novel either. They disappear for several chapters.
