I don't get the hate. As a guy i find Ren Min very pretty/beautiful.
Exactly, it has become a pattern šŸ˜“

Thankfully this drama’s ML is Ci Sha. Fellow great actor with fanbase I’ve seen pretty much all rational and mature, they thrive on great acting and performance. I want Ren Min to be recognized and popular like other actresses, but each time she’s paired with good looking/high traffic ML, she receives a load of hatred. So is it to say that Ren Min should stay low-key and go with mediocres ones? It’s just cruel. People can be really cruel for pushing an actress this far and I don’t understand. I really really admire Ren Min for staying strong, still picking up works and dramas like this. Yes, her living is from this too. But she needs to know how much she’s loved by her small fanbase which I pray will be big someday. Also, it’s quite nice knowing someone also defended her, support her, and likes her a lot. It’s nice knowing I’m not alone hahah!

Very normal here in Asia actually. Even considered as bringer of luck hahah. There’s just too many actress with big names have these small.. nose, it becomes a standard. So now Ren Min is considered ā€œnot up to standardā€. Weird weird our society it is šŸ™„

Yes, it is unfair. That’s the dark side of entertainment industry. Mostly the people I know who respects and find Ren Min beautiful are rational people hahah. Even if they don’t find her interesting, they just simply skip it or brush it off, or word it out in a better way. But again, those are what rational and mature people do. Can’t say to those who are not. Hence why I’m very active in supporting her hahah! Gotta put my extra energy for good stuff init šŸ˜‚

Wow, hahah, I would’ve matched your energy 2 years ago when I first found out what Ren Min has to endure. Now I’m just tired and would rather tell people how beautiful and amazing of an actress Ren Min is. Literally can’t keep up with the hate train coming for no reason. Arguing with people online for the sake of an actress’ sanity is also dam tiring hahah šŸ˜ž no wonder XJP even speaks out after the recent very popular drama. ā€œDramas should not focus on their looks. They should focus more on the story.ā€ Can’t agree more now

SS and TLP are also Ren Min’s real voice. It’s even stated in an interview in WeTV. I even compared this show with TLP, the voice is exactly the same. Whenever there’s a dubbing, there will also be official news. So far there hasn’t. So can’t assume anything yet. It’s most likely her voice, directed by the director to reflect more of a young, carefree girl. Overall, it’s still great. But people, let’s not focus too much on the voice 😊

I'm sorry to hear what she's been through, I always think she's pretty & lovely, her face may not the standard…
Cry me a sad river actually depicts this very problem. Bullies love to bully but won’t take the responsibility. If the same thing happens to them, they’d feel the most miserable. Sometimes it takes time for life to teach them a lesson. But what I don’t want is if during ā€œthe timeā€ the victim is heavily implicated to a terrible point. It’s harsh indeed

It comes to the point of obsession. Obsession births toxic fans. Most common for young ones. Adults will invest for their idols but to a certain point, unless paid to stir a controversy and their easy target would be the young ones. It’s just sad.. some celebrities do not deserve this. Ren Min does not, just because she has small fanbase. As someone who understands that and a part of that small fanbase, I choose to spread Ren Min’s hardwork and beauty. More people should know through her works and her true fans ā˜ŗļø

I showed Ren Min to my brother and he praises her beauty too. Most hates coming from fans of a certain actor where Ren Min played as his female lead. Actors tend to have more fangirls. I won’t even start how cruel most fangirls will judge and spread rumors. Literally no censors, straight up using their time to hate. I won’t care if it doesn’t affect Ren Min. But in entertainment industry, clearly it affects her and I’m worried in coming years she’ll take less work, means less shows for her fans. I don’t get people sometimes. I really don’t.

For those who just stumbled upon Ren Min from this work, or barely know who she is, let me tell you a story.

Ren Min was born in Hunan and studied at the Central Academy of Drama, one of the most prestigious acting academies in China.

Long before the fame, Ren Min once shared that she and her mother spent nearly ten years drifting in Beijing, still without a home of their own. Because of that, one of her simplest dreams was never fame, never luxury, but simply to have a home with her family.

She loved dancing. She trained hard. She worked until she earned her place in the industry, making her breakout through Cry Me a Sad River and becoming one of the masterpieces that people always recommend. Years later, her hard work earned recognitions including ā€œLeaping Actorā€ from Douyin.

But success didn’t protect her. Before fame, Chinese coverage reported that Ren Min was bullied in school. After fame, the bullying only changed its form.

People called her ugly. Said her voice was annoying. Called her a nepo baby, despite no credible evidence ever proving that. People mocked her nose, her expressions, her looks, her presence, simply because she didn’t fit their idea of ā€œperfect.ā€

In 2023, after another wave of criticism, Ren Min quietly saidā€œI am not perfect. Only by accepting imperfection can you improve.ā€ But did it stop? No.

When people told her to get plastic surgery because a certain popular drama she leads, Ren Min responded with humor and humbleness: ā€œBecause I’m afraid it’ll look worse.ā€And as someone who has followed Ren Min for years, this is where I started noticing something deeper.

I’ve watched people compare her to second female leads, saying her co-star is prettier, more marketable, more deserving, or that now her co-star is more successful, even when both may have worked just as hard.

That’s when you start seeing what beauty privilege really looks like.

Sometimes it feels like opportunities, attention, public support, and even industry interest naturally flow toward whoever fits society’s idea of ā€œperfectā€ a little more.

And as for this part below, it isn’t from media coverage. This is purely from my own observation while watching one of her variety shows.

What I saw honestly felt uncomfortably familiar. Like the kind of passive-aggressive exclusion you’d see in school. I watched Ren Min, and others who didn’t seem to fit that same ā€œperfectā€ mold, get treated differently. At one point, Ren Min read the room and protected herself including others who seemed left out, but then shunned for being rude from the other fans pretty aggressively.

And maybe that’s what makes me admire her even more. Because through all of it, she stayed, kept acting, improving, and kept showing up.

Not every woman is born with beauty privilege. Not every actress is protected by popularity. Some have to fight twice as hard just to stand in the same spotlight. And Ren Min never stopped standing there.

I truly hope that instead of blindly consuming rumors, people choose to research, to understand, and to appreciate the hard work, strength, and beauty she has shown for years. Spread it if can, like I did.

I will never understand the need to visit someone’s page, or even the page of their work, just to shame them for not fitting an imagined standard of beauty or perfection.

Ren Min never asked to be perfect. She simply chose to stay true to herself. And to me, that is far more beautiful.

Ummmm, I’m not sure about how to use the vpn one šŸ˜”

As far as I know, just pick any part in asia, preferably south east asia and then refresh/reinstall iqiyi/wetv and you’re good to watch..

I compared Ren Min’s voice here with The Longest Promise where she used her own voice, it’s actually the same.. there hasn’t been any official news about dubbing yet. All other actors too, including Ci Sha’s, also his real voice. I recognize it. From TV they do sound a little different, but when I play it on my ipad and put on earphone, I’m so sure it is their original voice. Maybe I’m starting to doubt because people keep on asking or saying it’s dubbed so it gets to my head. I had to replay TLP to actually make sure. But really.. it’s the same and there hasn’t been official news as of now yet. So I’ll believe that these are all their original voice, unless there’s an official news

She aint a nepo baby, she refuted this rumour herself, stop spreading false info
This is the reason why I’m getting sick with fans nowadays. The rumor nepobaby comes from those fans who hates her for playing with their fav actor (will not say who). And somehow, a youtube was made specifically about this and with a thumbnail saying she’s a nepobaby and people believe. Comparing her look with a specific animal, criticizing her nose, her voice, bullied her nonstop. God knows how this girl cope and still got up stronger than before in this toxic entertainment industry. Hence why I love Ren Min more. She learnt to protect and stand up to herself in one variety show too, but then the ā€œotherā€ fans called her rude. People with their evil thoughts these days can’t even keep it to themselves and had to post it, smh šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Genuinely asking, has the drama aired in China already? Not sure why they criticize so much. Only know that Ctizens…
Exactly my thought! The drama hasn’t even aired too for them, supposedly right? But my gosh their fingers are so itchy to type hate and spread misinformations. I read their weibos and they could simply put it this way ā€œis this dubbed?ā€ That’s it. Why the long ā€œthis is disappointing, the voice is dubbed, I don’t like it it’s ugly, not watching it.ā€ Wow.. like, people? You good? No matter how much I dislike a show I never type it out. Skip it and let people enjoy. These keyboard warriors are misleading people and the actresses/actors caught up to it. Anyways, I’m 100% sure it’s their real voice. But we’ll get the answer once it’s aired.
