I feel really conflicted after watching episode 14. It feels misplaced amongst the other episodes and I wasn’t quite sure why until near the end. The main focus of the episode was all of the additional characters who have had far less screen time throughout the whole series (Hao Yu, Han Lu, etc…) with limited screen time from Qing Lang and Chang Yang). Kuma and Jung Yu are the emotional anchors of the whole show and their acting is way stronger than many of the others. Also, the storyline about the genetic selection…….. eh? I feel that I really have missed something or it is trying way too hard to be something else. There has been enough symbolism and poetic dialogue all through to add anything else at this late stage. In summary, for me, this episode lost its emotional heart beat because of the lack of Qing Lang and Chang Yang. I’m glad it was the shortest episode of the series (also, the soundtrack is doing some heavy lifting throughout!).
This series has absolutely gripped me from the very first episode. It pains me that there has been such a negative feeling swirling around since the broadcast of episode 13, mainly because some viewers feel that it doesn’t meet their expectations of what should be happening. I think I realise partly why this is happening. The label ‘BL’ has been applied by many to this drama. The platform broadcasting it is famous for it’s ‘BL’ content (as well as other queer content). As far as I am concerned, nothing about this production is ‘BL’. first and foremost, it is a drama centred around the relationship of two people who happen to be male. The additional storylines mirror and dissect the ‘BL’ industry but it doesn’t contain any of the usual ‘tropes’. The 16 episode run, the cinematography, the original soundtrack, the chemistry of the two leads, the locations and ultimately the storyline itself, set it apart from what we usually expect from ‘BL’ productions. I am trying to view it through a different lens - it is a high quality drama which has clearly been deeply planned and written (all of the subtle imagery and dialogue, use of colour, imagery, soundtrack). Perhaps if we don’t think of it as a ‘BL’production, we may start to view it for what it really is and our expectations change accordingly. Much love………
I wish people would be a bit more respectful and click on the spoiler button if they are going to rant in the post about the latest episode….thank you to those who already have.
I have a delulu post which is rare lmao Their reaction to epi7 they reminded us they filmed two years ago. Look…
Ahhh, it is the actual scene they are talking about……….this is supposed to be set two years before the current events, not that it was filmed two years ago………
wait did i miss something? In ep 6 they were beefing, having a cold war. But suddenly, they got together in ep…
Episode 7 is set two months after the events of episode 6. In the first hotel scene Qinglang says to Changyang ’How could I ever have said I regretted meeting you’ and when the cake is delivered they talk about the limits of not being able to see one another. Even although Qinglang was angry that Changyang posted the footage, they are clearly deeply in love with each other.
Ep 5 - that certainly wrung the emotions…….. I feel melancholic after watching this. I just want to hug Fourth and tell him it will be okay. This was by far the most emotional episode. Just as it seems they are getting closer, God gets in the way! Not sure how they will wrap everything up in one more episode. 10/10 for this one!
This keeps getting better with each episode…..it’s so cinematic, utterly beautiful framed scenes throughout. And the story just keeps becoming more intriguing……. cannot wait another week for the next episode. They need to get back together!
Does anyone know the name of the track playing during the end credits? I’ve tried everything and can’t find it (maybe it’s mentioned in the credits but I don’t speak Korean)……
