I can understand your point and I can see that being quite accurate but for this specific story and show it is very accurate to the book. During this story Klao is an outcast because of things against his father and most of the society looks down on him and talks badly about him through the story.

If you would actually give this story a chance you would know that Klao had a lot of health issues and they often make A LOT of comments about his pale skin. This is not Thai production overlooking darker skin. It's about getting a person who fits the character look.
