Okay, I’m not the only one who interpreted the final episode like that. Very similar to what to thought: here is the complete rundown of final episode. You can find it on dailymotion, English subtitles but not official.
With the subtitles provided (daily motion) The final episode begins with the invasion of the forgein army. They’re nonexistent in the entire show till final episode. They force the 4 alliances (yong, yanbei, Ximeng, and biantang) to merge and fight against this gigantic army! And yeah, both sides have thousands and thousands of soldiers. It was awesome seeing the Ariel shot of two sides of soldiers, just shows how HUGE of a battle this was. The battle rages on, so many side supporting characters die. I’m glad Zhao Che died, considering what he did to Huan Huan (still pissed about that). The fantasy of her appearing then leaving was pretty cool! Other than that, battle rages on till night, Chu Qiao is one on one with the general. He dies, but she is mortally wounded. Then Zhuge Yue comes to the rescue! Turns out he DID NOT die in ep 39. The battle ends with her looking like she dies and Zhuge Yue in distress. Then flash to the next part. Yan Xun and Helian are enjoying new years, and they meet up with two kids who listen to a shadow puppet show. The show talks about Chu Qiao and her story of uniting the 4 alliances and leading the final battle. The kid mentions to Yan Xun that she never died and was healed after the battle. Then the kids reunite with their dad who happens to be Zhuge Yue. Yan xun follows him to their house where Chu Qiao steps out and greets them. And together they have dinner. Now, jump forward many years later. Yan xun awakens from a dream about Chu Qiao, and his maid comes to help him. He asks about lady Helian and the maid mentions she has been dead for the past 10 years. So obviously he’s forgotten some stuff. He even asks about Li Ce and the maid mentions he died 42 yrs ago. After some discussion with a yanbei general about trade, neighboring kingdoms and Ximeng, we see an old Zhuge Yue. He is busy helping villagers with their requests like what Chu Qiao did when she was in Ximeng. A young woman comes up and says she doesn’t want to be forced in to marriage and slavery and Zhuge tells her slavery has been abolished and is now felony crime. She then gives him a scroll with something written on it and the girls name happens to be Yun Chu Qiao. He questions it to her and she says she wants to be just like her. A female general. He stamps the letter and then gives it to the girl to give it to General Chu! Soooo, she is alive?! Then jump back to Yan xun, he struggles with getting on his horse and goes off for a ride. During the ride a montage plays where all the characters are shown to have happy endings vs the end they got. Now, the final part is when Yan Xun overlooks the frozen lake and raises his bow, he thinks about the very beginning and what would happen if he didn’t shoot the arrow. He accepts the outcome of what could’ve happened. Then we jump to old Zhuge Yue at the lake and Yan xun then follows him on the lake and they look at each others old faces. Probably thinking about their past lives. Then it ends.
So lots to unpack, but from the English subs on dailymotion, that’s what I got. I hope this is the case, even when the official IQIYI/VIKI subtitles come out or are super close because THAT would be an ending I could accept. I honestly liked this drama a ton. It was something new I have never seen before. Like a grounded political war drama that you don’t really see often. Because many costume dramas to me have felt too wuxia or fantasized. So having something like this sort of dark mature tone was something new I enjoyed. I still am upset about general huan’s character. I feel like she could’ve lived. Her death seemed pretty unecessary to me, idk what you guys thought? I hope that those who read this can hopefully agree to some extent this show was decent and not focus so much of the negativity of this show. No it was not perfect at all by any means. So many other better dramas out there. But Everyone has their tastes in dramas. Whether a show is good or bad, I still give kuddos to the actors and actresses and the WORK it takes to make such a show. Especially this one.
Omg, I think I wanna die 😒. They literally killed my favorites for no reason :(. Li Ce, Ming Lu and now Huan Huan, and now there’s rumors Zhuge Yue dies then actually isn’t dead BUT then Chu Qiao dies and it’s only Zhuge Yue and Yan Xun left at the end. Like the ending is super open-ended. Like whyyyyyyyyy……I get this is war, politics are brutal during these times. But come on!!!! Killing off Chu Qiao makes no sense because what is the point of her story then? She wants to free slaves and create a place of her own with freedom. And by her dying it literally takes away from the main story. I’m gonna crawl in a hole and just watch my comfort drama over and over (Love Between Lines).
No international audiences know. There are no express on WeTV or iQIYI.
Exactly, it is frustrating. Like, people are saying FL dies then ML and even ML and FL die. Idk who to believe at this point. I’m pretty upset that WeTv or IQIYI didn’t upload the express. Do you think they will release it tomorrow?
Those that have actually seen the final episode. Like the full episode 40 on the Chinese Tencent app. She FL die officially? Or is she actually alive at the end?
I literally pulled an all nighter excited for the final episodes to release. And they’re not posted yet. It’s only up to 35. I thought the express package episodes were releasing today? Unless it’s special region only?
I know 😭, I was upset when she died. I wish the writers gave her a proper send off, like all of a sudden she was just gone. Like I get her injuries were worse than Chu Qiao, but why does it seem like FL has like 9 lives and everyone gets 1 life. Like it’s frustrating as a viewer seeing all your favorite characters die so quickly, yet the main characters have like immortal lifespan.
I’ve been following this show pretty well. Not having watched princess agents. Maybe I missed some parts because the story is so complex. Who exactly is this witch lady? What’s her motive? It’s like she appeared out of thin air and is causing chaos. Any brief explanation about her character would be great!
Okay, I need help haha. So in the trailer there is a song that is playing towards the end of the trailer, is that part of the OST or is that a song that has already come out? I can’t find it anywhere and it’s soo good 😭
I love general huan’s little character arc! I wish she was included in more episodes. I hope to god the writer’s don’t kill her off😭. Same with MingLu (Chu Qiao’s sidekick). Both of them are the best female characters (at least still alive) than Chu Qiao. Also, I feel like MingLu’s actress could’ve been Chu Qiao?
I’m confused in the release schedule for final episodes. Does the final episode premier on May 1st for ALL subscriber members? Or if you have premier access it gets released earlier?
Yeah, it seems that way considering how fast things are moving. I haven’t read the novel, so I’m not sure if they live or die. But I’m hoping the 3 main will survive.
So…I’m curious, the way their killing off character after character, I would not be surprised if they killed off the main 3 or 2 of the main 3 and only one is left to live.
I like the series, but what's happening to the characters? It's like Game of Thrones, they're killing them all…
I know! I am also shocked how many characters they’re killing off so quickly. I am curious with the rate they’re going if any of the main three will die?
ALRIGHT….Time to RANT! Additional ranting is welcomed too! :)
Holy smokes!!!!! Episodes22-23!!!!!!! Those who have been enjoying this drama, I cannot express how crazy ep 22 was. I was going through all the stages of emotion. Li Ce :(, I cried so much! He was such an innocent person and did not deserve that death. Like I had a feeling it was coming, just not that fast! His memories of Chu Qiao (ugh!!!). Chu Qiao’s revenge was fascinating. I did NOT expect Li Yan to die so quickly!!! I am glad he is gone though, but I was looking forward to see what sort of a ruler he would become? They’re literally pulling off game of thrones now (sorry, I can’t compare this to any other show), killing off characters left and right unexpectedly! Biangtang’s royal family is getting picked off so quickly who’s gonna be left? Li Yan’s death was 100% deserved. Every bit of it, and god that throw with Chu Qiao’s sword, chef’s kiss! I cried a lot at the end. It was soo sad and for Chu Qiao to feel regret and struggling to move on is hard to watch. It shows she really did care for him deeply. Episode 23, man…..it was so great to see General Huan again, for how many episodes she was gone for, this was rewarding! She is my favorite for sure and honestly I like her more than Chu Qiao. But all the characters are good in their own way. It was fun seeing Lady Helian trying to make General Huan feel more like a woman than just a cold General. I hope their friendship continues through the show. I like how General Huan might also have a possible love interest? But more importantly, it definitely seems like she lost her confidence in fighting and leading after the ambush in ep 7. I hope she can get it back and fight for the right cause. Lastly, Chun’er is for sure going to become the new empress. She has lost EVERYTHING basically up to this point. She is going to go full chaos. I wonder how long she will last, considering how quick they’re killing off all the enemies lol, is there even going to be anyone left by the end of the drama to fight? Haha! But overall, these two episodes were what we’ve been waiting for, high stakes, returning characters, plot developing, it’s gonna be a crazy 20 episodes! I hope it continues this momentum now. We’re finally in the big meat of the story.
I dont know what this drama is about, but every episode i watch is exciting and good. ❤️ But i still dont…
You know, I just think of it as kind of like a concept of Game of Thrones? There are many kingdoms fighting against each other for their own benefit and the story mostly focus’s on the three main characters w/ their own personal goals. FL wants to abolish slavery and have all the kingdoms live freely with no slaves. ML wants to work alongside FL and help her achieve her goal. And then second ML wants to rule and free his kingdom with the obsession over FL because of their past history. So that’s what I get out of it, but it’s really good. I like it. Something you don’t see in the usual drama with the dark themes.
I think we can all agree that episode 19 was what we’ve been waiting for 😂 . It was utterly satisfying but I’m intrigued with what Li Yan has planned. In my opinion, he seems like he is going to be the new threat.
