Agreed with everything you said. About the proper burial- very heartbreaking point about disrespect to a noble character. Basically the production team abandoned Murong Qingyi in that factory. Lost to those he loved and alone.

I'm a purist. The ending is whatever they produced on film and streamed. Being noncommittal is not an ending. It's manipulative. In the olden days, before the internet, people would be left distressed and wondering. Not really good for a rewatch either.
The fact that the production team decided to leak the happy ending is a sop to distressed viewers who didn't want him to die- damage control. Either he died or he didn't. The filmmakers did not film him alive afterwards. What is infuriating also, the HE was in the OG script. The decision still pisses me off. And I'm still hungover from the unjust tragedy. He's dead.
On the other hand I quite understand why many want to interpret it as hopeful. I envy them.

I can understand the rationale for ascribing success to the drama, that a mess can become a promotional dream.. However, as a dramatic work it leaves a lot to be desired. It could have been great. It totally isn't. The actors saved it from ignominy. I still give it a 6 (I dearly wish it could be more.)

I think leaving an OE is dishonest.
My reasoning is that Qingyi died. A hospice nurse IRL who had witnessed hundreds of deaths said that invariably all her patients experienced marvellous, joyous hallucinations before they died. There are a multitude of reports like this. So that's how I interpreted this ending. If it weren't for that I would be left wondering and that would really piss me off.
In conclusion, that darling, crazy, tragic man is dead.
