I can't believe people are liking this
Multiple people on Twitter ( i still call it that ), MDL review, and all BL watcher recommended Khemjira as their top bl and i just can't wrap my head around that, this is the standard? Even I expected a lot, seeing the review, the fact that it is on Netflix, and the production, but man? wtf was that?
First of all, Why was the main leads’ relationship written through such a heteronormative lens? like they weren't portrayed as gay people falling in love, but a woman and a man falling with just woman having male face. took too much context from their past life or what? I read in one review that the plot was written completely with woman in mind and then later it must have been turned into Bl, and they just made the woman character male and changed nothing and i agree so much like i was so freaking annoyed looking at that portrayal of the relationship and that typical showcase of woman only cooking and cleaning and the man sitting and being served and argh the last scene took my patience, it felt like watching some soap opera where the father is eating the kids are there and wife is serving argh that was so bad. Like you just get the sense of how stereotypically it was shown, it is just visible, that they didn't even try to show two man in love. I have watched dramas where they give the sense of husband wife trope and we all hate that because that defeats the whole point of two man falling, but i have never seen anything of this level. ML(Kem) is very pretty like super pretty and even though I personally didn't like his character liking a lot, but his face card served. and that made me complete the drama, the face card of the leads. literally that's it. it was slow, without any depth, and for the first time i kept skipping 10sec to finish with the scenes. i have never done this, man i replay the scenes and here i was skipping because a. idk if this is how every thai horror mystery village side type drama is made but for me, it was so cringe and like no depth man, no base, so surface level stuff and in general thai dramas are little cringe, but maybe that's their charm, so this is why i don't watch thai dramas with super serious plot like revenge, mystery, law, crime, because I know thai bl makes them all baseless and cringe, neither written well, nor portrayed well, the action scene will give you second hand embarrassment, the acting will feel like watching some school kid made short film. That's why after all hit and try, I will stick to high school, college BL.
I lost interest in story after 4 or 5th epi only i feel, just dragged myself to finish it for the sake. The intimate scenes were good. though that doesn't make a drama great. Overall, i would just want all the people who went crazy about this show to please enlighten me what and how did they survive the drama without skipping scenes, because man, we need to upgrade the standards if we are getting moved by this.
The actors are crazy good looking, the friendship is genuinely so heartwarming. Khem character might not be written too well, it wasn't hollow, they were small nuances where you will see how strong internally he is, it is not easy to live the life that he lived for 21 years, he was portrayed as some damsel in distress but internally he was very strong.
