Celebrity I'm very disappointed
I'm honestly quite surprised that BossNoeul accepted this project, especially Boss. His character is the type I wouldn't normally expect him to portray, and considering that this is a comedy series, I didn't expect it to be this cringey. I can't tell if it's just me, but sometimes I feel like he's not entirely comfortable playing his character.
I wouldn't say I'm impressed with Noeul's acting either. It's not bad, but it feels very similar to his previous performances. I just don't see much improvement or anything particularly new in his portrayal.
Is it just me, or are the projects being given to BossNoeul getting worse? The plots seem to be getting more and more lackluster. I could forgive a weak storyline if the series were genuinely funny or at least memorable, but unfortunately, this one is neither.
I also don't understand how Moo fell in love with Fu. The series never gives us convincing reasons for Moo to fall for him. Instead, most of what we're shown is how annoying Fu can be. Where's the development that would make Moo's feelings understandable? A romance needs more than persistence from one person; it needs to show us why the other person eventually falls in love.
The dating-app storyline was another wasted opportunity. They barely explored that phase of their relationship, and Moo didn't even seem particularly upset when he discovered that Fu was the person he'd been chatting with. Wouldn't he feel betrayed, especially after being deceived by someone he had started connecting with online? I also don't understand how Fu figured out that the person he was chatting with was Moo. These are important details that could have added emotional depth and made their relationship more interesting, but the series barely addressed them.
Honestly, I feel like the writers should have focused on fixing the plot before piling on one cringey line after another in an attempt to grab the audience's attention. Comedy doesn't automatically become funny just because the dialogue is exaggerated or ridiculous. Sometimes, it just becomes uncomfortable to watch. I would have preferred a well-written story with genuinely funny moments over a series that seems to rely on cringe humor to keep viewers entertained.
The side characters' stories are actually fine, and I find some of them more interesting than the main couple's storyline. Tian's story, however, is pretty basic, and I often find myself skipping his scenes. Is Earth supposed to be his love interest? Tian has many love interests, but I just don't feel the chemistry.
And speaking of Earth, is it just me, or he has been a college student for the past 8 years, what's up with his characters.
One last thing I don't understand is why Fu's parents dislike Moo so much. He's Chinese, just like them, and his family is wealthy too. If we're talking about traditional Chinese family expectations, wouldn't those qualities make him a pretty suitable match? Unless there's another reason behind their disapproval, their attitude doesn't make much sense to me.
Overall, this series feels like it had potential but failed to make the most of it. The main couple's romance lacks convincing development, the comedy feels forced, and several plot points that could have added depth are barely explored. The side stories offer some entertainment, but they aren't enough to make up for the weaknesses of the main storyline.
It's especially disappointing when you're watching a series starring a pairing you want to see succeed. I don't expect every BossNoeul project to be a masterpiece, but I do expect a decent story, believable character development, and chemistry that makes me root for them. Unfortunately, this series doesn't give me enough of those things.
