K-Drama
After watching Battle of Shangganling, what I felt was that China did everything it could to help North Korea survive and develop. But this drama also made me feel deeply sad—not for any particular government, but for the people of North Korea.
They have to live without freedom, with almost every aspect of their lives under government control. Even today, ordinary North Koreans have extremely limited access to the internet. While China has made tremendous progress in technology, AI, and modernization, the country it once helped is still living under such strict restrictions. Even access to electronic devices and information is tightly controlled, and basic human rights remain severely restricted.
How heartbreaking is that? There are so many dark sides of the world that we may never get to see or fully understand.
Sometimes, I really want to ask every ordinary Chinese citizen one question: If you could be reincarnated and choose where to be born, would you choose South Korea or North Korea?
I can't help but wonder how many people would actually choose North Korea.
I am a citizen of Myanmar. China and Russia have been helping the military regime in my country, and now we, the people of Myanmar, have lost so many of our rights and freedoms. We know what it feels like to suffer because of the actions and decisions of those in power.
If there really is such a thing as karma, and one day it comes full circle, I sincerely hope that the ordinary people of your countries will never have to experience the same pain and suffering that we, the people of Myanmar, have endured.
I don't wish suffering upon ordinary Chinese or Russian people. I only hope that no ordinary people, anywhere in the world, will ever have to lose their freedom and live in fear because of the decisions made by those in power.
