In my opinion, this series will end on a cliffhanger; I believe it will conclude with the Nine Mystics finding Zhang Qilin. Given the episode count, I don't think they'll show the adventures of the Nine Mystics alongside Zhang Qilin—I suspect that part will be saved for a third season—though I could be wrong, and there might still be time to cover it.

The books never showed what happened to Rishan, but the series is actually being faithful to the source material in that regard, because in the second book, Rishan simply disappeared without explanation.
