I'm confused about whether I should watch it or not because I'm getting bored of watching step-siblings-to-lovers stories

Not everyone is saying the story is boring. Many original Chinese historical drama fans actually liked the story to a certain extent. I think the issue is that some new historical C-drama fans expect every C-drama to be like POJ. Personally, I found the story very engaging. Yes, it felt a bit slow in the middle, but I didn't mind it. It usually takes me some time to understand the political side of historical C-dramas.

I think people often confuse a Marquis with a General. They're not the same. A Marquis holds a noble title and usually has political power in addition to military authority. So comparing Xie Zheng only to other generals doesn't really make sense. The real issue wasn't his title it was that the drama didn't fully showcase his abilities.

This drama is about to become the biggest trauma of my life. 😭 You're telling me Murong Qingyi dies? I wanted him to move on and find someone who would truly love him. I was hoping for a bittersweet ending, not one this heartbreaking.

One of them even said, "What if this drama becomes the biggest sh*t?" So it seems like some people had already decided to hate it before watching it. Of course, there are also genuine haters and people who simply didn't like the drama, and that's their opinion.

I don't agree that POJ became successful just because it was on Netflix. Netflix selects dramas that meet its quality standards, so being on Netflix is already an achievement. More importantly, Pursuit of Jade is a genuinely good drama. It has a compelling story, a well-balanced mix of romance and politics, strong performances, and stunning visuals. Those qualities are what made it popular, not Netflix alone.

Zhang Linghe shared that later flashbacks will reveal the deeper story behind the leads' relationship, and both leads hinted that the main plot unfolds in the upcoming episodes.
