K-Drama 
The characters and story were not very memorable.
To be honest this was the first Chinese TV show I ever watch and it is very average not that good if I am being honest.What saved this show was the good actors, the good music and the good lighting. It's not something I would ever watch a second time.
The action scenes were good but I feel like the characters were not developed enough and it was hard for me to care for them or love them.

I just wanted to finish it and for it to end in the last 10 episodes.
I don't know this show started out strong but towards the final 10-12 Episodes it got super boring and I wanted it to end.The episode where the boy calms down because he feels the main female lead is calm and they both like each other was powerful and good. The main male lead notices this as well and he concludes ai translation does lack human emotion and they conclude that human translation can be good in some situations and AI translations can be good in other situations and both are necessary. This is the best way this should could have ended.

Xin Mei and Lu Qian are well written characters
So I'm 30 years old and this is only the third Chinese Show I've watched in my entire life and out of all three Fate Chooses you is by far the best. I like the story they reveal character motivations and back stories slowly not all at once it is evenly spread out amongst episodes.The fight scenes are beautiful and intense, the sets are beautiful with good lighting. I love how the immortal sects, humans and demons all have good people and bad people in them this makes the story more believable and not black and white.
Most of all I love Xin Mei's character she is a feminine women. Xin Mei's braveness to stand up for people who are weak and suffering is very appealing to me. I am born in the West and in the West we don't write good women characters like this any more, nowadays it's just a bunch of arrogant and rude feminist women protagonists that hate men. Also Mr. Lu Qian's character is also very likable he grew up with a bad nature and bad environment but he tries to fight against his bad upbringing to be a good person I love characters that try to do what is right and have morals.
The one thing I am saddened is physical media like DVD is not an option for this show because I love rewatching shows and owning a real copy I can keep in my house. The only way I can get a physical copy is from people who pirate the show but I don't want to give them my money. This is a little unrelated but I hope there is legal DVD options for Chinese Shows in the future so we have another way to support the people who created the show besides streaming.

Very slow in the beginning, but don't drop the show it get's better and the ending is worthwhile
Super slow paced, but they do seem to be introducing the character's back story and their motivations which could potentially be worth it for the later episodes. We will see. I like characters who are naturally good and think for themselves instead of being told what to do so I will complete this show I just need time to do it.Update: Finished all 36 episodes. Getting through the first 10 slow episodes in the beginning is tough but once they leave the mountain and travel the world. The pacing of the story becomes quicker and it's less boring. Ji Tanyin is very good female lead, she gives others the benefit of the doubt, doesn't rush to judgement assesses people and environments before deciding on a course of action, helps others. We get into how she taught humans to farm, get water and make furniture and machines. Ji Tanyin can cook and fight. It's also very nice of Yuangzhong to make food for her as well. The love is two ways not just one sided which makes it believable. The two leads don't just say they love each other they do things for each other to show their love to each other. The side characters have their own interesting little stories and interactions with one another and I find them all interesting.
The High Priest becomes a much more interesting in the later episodes. As a character initially I hated him, felt like he was a dick but he had a hard life his parents die, his friends lie to him, he gets scammed, people manipulate him and seal him away for 40 years. Now that I think about it this would make anyone angry and resentful at human beings and the world. I was able to have empathy for him later in the show. Ji Tanyin is a goddess he prayed to when he was a child and later Ji Tanyin comes to earth and she secretly supports him behind the scenes to me this adds an interesting layer to the story. Her wish is for him to have a family and live a long and happy life which is very touching.
So in summary the ending was enough to satisfy everyone I think some people prefer a happy ending some prefer a sad ending but having it lean towards a happy ending but be a little sad is what I prefer so I am satisfied.

Easily one of the greatest Xianxia's of all time
So going into this show the most interesting dynamic is having the woman being the master and the man being the disciple it will be very interesting to see how the dynamics shift when he is the master and she becomes the disciple this switching is unique and I have never seen it before.The acting is good, the set and costumes look great. I will update this review when I watched more episodes it's too soon to complete this review. Again the characters origin stories are introduced bit by bit which is always ideal since the viewer can absorb information and retain it better.
Julia Xiang is a great actress before she looks so strong, knowledgeable and confident, after she is reborn she comes off as so innocent and naive. Same actress but it's like two completely different people such a high level of acting.
The pacing of this show is good it's not too fast and not too slow. There is enough action but doesn't rely on cool fight scenes to carry the show. The show is carried by the story telling and the dialogue this is what a good Xianxia should be like.
The male lead and female lead have investigative skills, negotiations skills, and even use trickery to fool the antagonists adds a realistic and interesting layer to their characters and the main story.
Many of the characters met when they were children and have conflicts with each other like obsession, love, betrayal and revenge. Very good to have all these elements in the drama.
I want to talk about the villain Dun tian I'm glad they didn't just make him evil they gave him a very human and understandable reason (his desire to be with his family again.)
This is the best Xianxia I have ever watched. Once again China does the best possible job of writing good and interesting feminine characters.
The scene was towards the end of the two leads getting married and living with their children was very well done. This is a show I will re-watch yearly I truly believe it is that good.
