A BL with complicated characters, messy choices and a story that keeps you hooked

You Maniac has such a human way of portraying its characters. They’re messy, complicated, impulsive and flawed in their own ways, but they aren’t simply “bad people.” Sometimes we say things we don’t mean, react in ways even we don’t understand, or do things and later wonder why we did them. The characters feel like that—imperfect and unpredictable, which makes them so much more real and relatable.

The acting is SO good, and the chemistry between the cast is honestly so, so, so good. Every character has their own personality and emotional layers, and the actors really make you feel all of it. Even when a character frustrates you, you can still understand where they’re coming from, and I think that’s one of the series’ biggest strengths.

And the little details!! The production, cinematography, framing, music and the way certain scenes are put together add so much to the overall experience. There’s clearly so much thought behind what we’re seeing, and it makes the series even more immersive. It’s still ongoing, but I’m already so invested in these characters and their beautifully messy little world.
