If you don't care about miscommunication. Watch this.

My second completed GL! Yay! I liked it for what it was: an office romance that starts as friends-with-benefits. The beginning episodes were very fiery. They had so much banter and their chemistry was off the charts. But as the show went on the chemistry was there but it didn’t fit the characters. When characters’ banter, it’s not always because they hate each other, even though the show made it start that way, it’s because they have civil, and entertaining, discourse. When they started to use their “benefits” they stopped bantering. This to me was very disappointing. The actresses did such a good job and had to be nerfed by a script that didn’t understand their characters as well as they would have. These women are naturally feisty and seem to be the types to continue to do so even with loved ones. Other than that, there were a few other problems. Now, I am one for drama, in fact, I love it, but this show had too much unnecessary drama. I understand a few arguments especially in the beginning of the relationship as they didn’t know each other too well yet, but as time went on they argued too much. Honestly, if this was a real couple they would not stay together after the show was over. They have way too much miscommunication, even at the last 20 minutes of the show. I understand if they haven’t reached their character arc yet but they should have by the end. No one healed anything besides the creepy man issue. Maybe I know too much about plot but I think this show could have been written better. Their arguments, if it was necessary to have them in the first place, should have had a better reason to be there, something beyond the miscommunication trope. Honestly, this story felt like a sapphic spicy Hallmark Movie that got turned into a TV show. Like the same way Disney did with their second princess movies once upon a time. No one turned this movie timing into a full fledged show, they just added in random scenes and hoped we wouldn’t notice.
I have now realized I rambled too much about what I disliked that I haven’t rambled about what I liked. I adored the humor and the beginning, that is the whole reason I came back to this show after a few months delay on finishing it. The chemistry was good, at least in the acting department. The characters were styled well and appropriate for their environment. Even though there was a lot of s3x, something I dislike in shows, it was appropriate for the plot as that is how the couple started. All in all, I liked the show but was truly disappointed by its outcome. I know that it was the plot that made the show dim rather than the actresses because I have seen JanJingJing in MeTeLuv and remember how fabulous they did in their characters. I hope the spin-off, which I am excited for (let’s go ViewMim!), has better plot and makes more canonotic sense for the characters.

Don't bother watching

I had high hopes for this production as I always love a nerdy love story, but it was just disappointing all around. It feels unfinished. We only had one couple and ironically it still doesn't feel like enough. I don’t think this could be fixed by making a season two either. There was so much content but not enough chemistry scenes. They only got a kiss the last few seconds of the show and it didn’t have any build up. I am fine with it being the last episode but make it have some meaning. I mean they kissed like it was there first after it said they had been dating for years. Why was it in slow motion? I would have rather it be a typical high school show and had no kiss at all. Niran was having a whole arc with judo and it felt like it had been smashed to pieces by the last episode. He just ended up where he began. Yes, he did get an emotional restart with his mom, but was it really even needed? Multiple times he said “my mom left me” while she was right there the whole time! They should have hardened that and made it become a conflict of why Niran wouldn’t date Cheewa right after begging to like him. The ending was abrupt as well, it just told me where everyone ended up. I liked it in Legally Blonde, not here. I wish there had been someone in the writing room that knew what they were doing with this material to make it better. They could have had such well rounded ideas. Arcs would have succeeded and endings would have been satisfying. Honestly, I thought having no second couple would be fine because the main couple was doing good but I think the show would have been better with two couples. It would have added dimension. Anyway, the only redeeming qualities was Sea’s character, Cheewa. He played it perfectly. No shade to Keen because he did well too but his character was so badly written nobody could have fixed him.
