K-Drama
Worth watching
Not every series needs to follow a predictable formula to tell a compelling story. Sometimes, you need to pay attention instead of waiting for everything to be spoon-fed to you. And that's one of the things I appreciate about YOU MANIAC.The character writing deserves more recognition. The way emotions, insecurities, and unspoken feelings unfold through conversations, subtle expressions, and character interactions makes the story much more interesting than a surface-level viewing might suggest. The direction complements the writing beautifully, while the cast delivers performances that make these characters feel believable. Add the OSTs, cinematography, and the work of the entire production team, and you get a series with a distinct identity of its own.
William and Est deserve their flowers, but appreciation shouldn't stop with the leads. The writers, director, supporting cast, and everyone working behind the scenes have contributed to bringing this story together. Good storytelling is a team effort, and YM has plenty worth acknowledging.
And honestly, the obsession with ratings sometimes becomes more entertaining than the actual discussion about a series. Criticism is fair, different opinions are welcome, but a number on a screen shouldn't replace an actual conversation about the writing, performances, and creative choices.
You don't have to call YOU MANIAC a masterpiece. But if you're going to criticize it, at least engage with the series itself instead of letting a rating do your thinking for you.
For those who appreciate stories with layered characters, emotional complexity, and details that reward attention, give YOU MANIAC a chance. Form your own opinion. You might find something worth staying for. 💙
