One of my favorite Thai dramas!! I love the friendship between the main lead trio - the unhinged yet endearing grit of Santi, the comedic eccentricity of Rui Jie & the grounded and sharp Xiao Yu.
Pheem is easily my favorite complex, morally-grey character.
She's everything messy: she's arrogant, hot-tempered and says things that she later regrets because her emotions get the better of her.
But underneath that unhinged exterior, she's also fiercely loyal to a fault.
When she loves someone, she's completely locked in to her person; no one else stands a chance. She throws herself in danger’s way to protect the one whom she cares about. She is willing to fight her Dad for Parn, and even her own biases to overcome her initial prejudices. She doesn't always say “I love you” but she shows it in hidden ways, through secretly buying her pastries and favorite drinks.
It's nice to see someone love with such reckless abandon (minus certain controversial scenes).
And it takes an exceptional actress to play that well. Lena's doe eyes, pouty expressions and unhinged behavior embodied Pheem well. I cannot imagine anyone else play Pheem except Lena!!
Watched this just for Lena aka my fav actress hehe <3 And it's her first movie too!!!
Good points: 1. Tor and Lena carried the show with their acting. Tor portrayed Tawan’s innocent sincerity convincingly, while Lena captured Mint’s doubtful hesitation and internal conflict from their karmic tie well. 10/10 acting 2. Good-looking leads, which makes watching them enjoyable LOLOL 2. The Thai culture backdrop (like the textile and the journey to Uttaradit) was nicely weaved into the story, without it feeling awkward or preachy. 3. A heartwarming, easy-to-follow along show, especially if you like to watch a show for comfort / entertainment and not crack your brain too hard to understand the plot.
Room for Improvement (more of the plot): The modern-day romance plot between Tawan and Mint could have been better developed. Tawan falling in love with Mint after a short trip (with some bantering and playing music together) felt slightly rushed.
Overall, a decent show. Can't wait to see Lena in more future works and characters :)
