A Love Story That Slowly Finds Its Way Home

Speed and Love was honestly such an enjoyable ride for me. It had romance, family issues, trauma, racing, separation, reunion, jealousy, misunderstandings, and a whole lot of feelings. There were definitely moments that made me frustrated, but overall, I really enjoyed watching Jiang Mu and Jin Zhao’s relationship develop.

One of the things I liked most about this drama is that the characters actually feel alive. They have their own personalities, backgrounds, struggles, and lives outside of their relationship. They don’t feel like characters who only exist to serve the romance. Jin Zhao has his own past, family issues, ambitions, and complicated emotions, while Jiang Mu is also not just a passive female lead who waits for the male lead to make every decision. She has her own thoughts, choices, and feelings, and I really appreciated that.

Jiang Mu and Jin Zhao’s relationship also feels like something that takes time to develop. They have a history together, they get separated, they meet again, and then they have to deal with all the things that happened while they were apart. Their relationship isn’t perfect, but I like that they gradually learn to understand each other instead of everything being magically solved overnight.

And Jin Zhao… this man really tested my patience sometimes. 😭 He can be cold, stubborn, possessive, and extremely protective. There were definitely moments when I wanted to tell him, BRO, JUST SAY WHAT YOU FEEL. But unlike a character who is simply rude for no reason, Jin Zhao’s behavior is connected to his past, his family, his trauma, and the way he has learned to protect the people he cares about. That doesn’t excuse everything he does, but it makes his character easier to understand.

What I especially liked was seeing Jin Zhao slowly become more open with Jiang Mu. Beneath all the coldness and tough exterior, he is actually someone who pays attention to the little things she wants and needs. He doesn’t always express his feelings with words, but his actions often speak for him. And when Jiang Mu starts teasing him or making him jealous… PLEASE, HIS JEALOUS REACTIONS WERE SO FUNNY. 😭

Jiang Mu, on the other hand, is someone I genuinely enjoyed watching. She isn't completely perfect either, but I like that she isn't afraid to pursue what she wants. When Jin Zhao tries to push her away, she doesn't simply give up and wait for him to come back. She makes her own choices and tries to understand what is actually happening. Their relationship therefore feels more balanced to me because both of them choose each other, rather than one person constantly chasing while the other does nothing.

I also really enjoyed the way the story eventually moved beyond their romance. The family conflicts, Jin Zhao’s past, the misunderstandings, and the things keeping them apart all play a role in why their relationship develops the way it does. By the time they finally stop running away from their feelings and seriously choose each other, it feels like they have actually gone through something together.

And honestly, the ending made me happy. After all the separation, misunderstandings, emotional baggage, and complicated family situations, seeing them finally choose a future together and move toward marriage felt like a proper conclusion to their journey. It wasn't just “they love each other, THE END.” It felt more like they finally reached the point where they could say, “Okay, we've been through enough. Let's build a life together.”

I also really liked the symbolism of their journey. They started out separated, living different lives and carrying their own problems, but eventually they found their way back to each other. The racing element also fits nicely with the overall theme of the story—moving forward, taking risks, getting lost, and eventually finding the direction you want to go.

Of course, the drama isn't perfect. There were moments where the pacing felt a little uneven, and some conflicts could probably have been resolved much sooner if the characters simply talked things out. 😭 There were also moments when I wanted to scream at both of them because COMMUNICATION, PLEASE!!! But compared to how frustrated I felt with some other dramas, I think Speed and Love handled its characters' emotional development pretty well.

Overall, I really enjoyed this drama. The romance, the chemistry, the character development, the family story, and the journey from separation to reunion all worked together for me. Jiang Mu and Jin Zhao aren't perfect people, but that's actually part of what makes their relationship interesting. They make mistakes, they carry their own baggage, they hurt each other sometimes, but they also learn, grow, and eventually choose each other.

So after 29 episodes…

Was it perfect? No.
Did it make me frustrated sometimes? Absolutely. 😭
Did I enjoy the journey? YES.
Would I watch Jiang Mu and Jin Zhao again? Definitely.

A messy, emotional, sometimes frustrating, but ultimately satisfying love story. ❤️🏎️
