Some Flaws, But Still Enjoyable

Good Characters, Terrible Communication

From episode 1 to 24, honestly, this drama had me STRESSED AS HELL, but somehow I still loved it 😭. However, if you ask me whether I’m satisfied with the ending… HONESTLY, NO. I really wanted more closure.

But one thing I really love about The Early Spring is that the characters actually feel alive. They have their own personalities, backgrounds, trauma, flaws, egos, and ways of thinking. They don’t feel like puppets who simply do whatever the writer wants them to do. Even when they make decisions that make me want to scream at the screen, I can still understand why they act that way.

Now, when it comes to Flora and Luke…

THEIR MAIN PROBLEM IS BASICALLY JUST ONE THING: COMMUNICATION. PLEASE. COMMUNICATE. 😭

Luke has a huge ego, a sharp mouth, is possessive, gets triggered easily, and sometimes the way he handles problems is just… BRO, TALK TO HER FIRST???

Whenever something makes him suspicious or uncomfortable, instead of asking Flora about it properly, he immediately gets angry, makes assumptions, and then says things that are just straight-up HARSH. 💀

Flora isn’t completely innocent either. She’s quite naive and sometimes doesn’t take the initiative to explain things to Luke. But honestly, I can also understand why she sometimes chooses to stay quiet. How is she supposed to feel comfortable telling him things when his response is often accusations, harsh words, or belittling comments?

So they basically end up trapped in this vicious cycle:

Flora doesn’t tell him → Luke feels ignored → Luke gets angry and makes accusations → Flora becomes even more uncomfortable talking to him → Luke trusts her even less.

BRO. COMMUNICATION. 😭

And Luke can be SO MANIPULATIVE sometimes, which makes me even more frustrated. Especially after they broke up for six years, I was still seeing the same patterns in his behavior.

Like… SIX YEARS, BRO. WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING??? 😭

I was also kind of surprised by their dynamic in the beginning. They almost felt more like FWB than a normal secret relationship. So when I saw how their relationship developed, I was like, “Hmmmm… okay…” 💀

If you ask me whether I’m Team Luke or Team Flora?

I’M TEAM FLORA. NO DEBATE.

That doesn’t mean Flora doesn’t have red flags. They both clearly have their own issues. But personally, I understand Flora’s position more than Luke’s.

What frustrated me the most is that Luke is older, yet in some situations, he acts incredibly immature. I know there are reasons behind his behavior, including his father issues, and that does help explain why he is the way he is.

But explaining someone’s behavior doesn’t mean excusing it.

And I’m not saying that being older automatically means someone has to be more mature. Obviously, that’s not how it works. But it’s still disappointing to see Luke handling conflicts in the same immature way.

COMMUNICATION, BRO!!!! 😭

Overall, I actually like this drama precisely because the characters aren’t perfect. They’re messy, frustrating, and sometimes make me want to throw a pillow at my screen, but they feel human.

So even though I complained throughout all 24 episodes and the ending still left me wanting more…

I STILL LIKE THIS DRAMA.

And maybe that’s actually proof that the drama succeeded in making me care about its characters. If I got THIS emotional and frustrated over Luke, then…

LUKE DEFINITELY DID HIS JOB MAKING ME MAD
