Pursuit of Jade
Honestly enjoyed more for its characters, romance, and overall atmosphere than for its storytelling. Fan Changyu and Xie Zheng have really good chemistry, and I especially enjoyed watching their relationship gradually develop from a marriage of convenience into genuine love. The two leads have a natural dynamic, and their interactions are one of the strongest parts of the drama for me. I also like that Fan Changyu is not just a passive female lead; she is brave, capable, and willing to fight for her family, her husband, and justice. Xie Zheng also has a strong presence, and his character becomes more interesting as his true identity and past are revealed. However, I do think the story becomes increasingly complicated with all the family secrets, political schemes, investigations, and conflicts, so some parts felt a little difficult to follow. To be completely honest, one thing that bothered me was Xiang Xia role as a county magistrate/judge. I felt that his character did not really feel like a convincing magistrate. His role was not explored deeply enough, and I didn't really get the feeling that I was watching someone who truly understood or embodied the position of a judge. His scenes felt more like a supporting role in the plot rather than a character who genuinely carried the authority and presence of a magistrate. Despite that, the drama still has plenty of enjoyable moments, especially the chemistry between the leads, the romantic tension, and the historical atmosphere. Overall, I think Pursuit of Jade is a good watch if you enjoy historical romance with strong female characters, political intrigue, and a couple with good chemistry, although I think the story could have been more consistent and some supporting characters could have been developed much better
