This might sound braggy as hell, but honestly I didn't have that hard of a time following the game rules. It's just that they took forever to explain. Anyways, most of the time I could figure out the rules of games as they were being played, clearing up any confusion I had during explanation. I know the game rules and how complicated they were were a huge minus for a lot of people though, but for me personally I did't take away much.
GOD I have A LOT of thoughts about this show. But to make this short:- Seokjin deserved to win.- Seokjin and Shi…
Also Seokjin's clutch play during the Laying Grass game was so fucking bonkers. I mean I called it because I knew it was the last day for them to go to prison and actually solve the puzzle. Not to mention Shi Won mentioned earlier that she wanted to go to prison that EP. And at that point Seokjin and Shi Won were the only ones who had figured out that the pieces were actually the code (Dong Joo figured out the pieces fit together but had no knowledge of the keypad in the prison, also she had among the most pieces so her going to prison wasn't even in the cards). So the only way to ensure that the two figured out what was in the prison on time was to send them both there by eliminating Yeon Woo who was going to be sent to prison if she didn't get eliminated. A sacrifice (2) needed to be made but god did it pay off BIG TIME for Seokjin. Shi Won's efforts were not in vain either, because by figuring out the 1 person a day loophole, and also going first, it gave Seokjin an idea of what the game was so he could formulate something of a plan. And him winning those 10 pieces + 1 from the puzzle + 1 from Shi Won, really put him at a crazy advantage for the poker game and also the prize game that took place right before the finale. Overall the cards were fucking right for Seokjin and he fucking PLAYED that bitch until the end. Huge props to him for keeping a level head and absolutely (semi) flawlessly murdering that shit. One of the most satisfying winners in survival/game show history. He really earned that shit.
GOD I have A LOT of thoughts about this show. But to make this short: - Seokjin deserved to win. - Seokjin and Shi Won had some crazy chemistry. Would love to see them act in something together. - Orbit was smart but god did I find him slightly annoying (my own personal gripe tbh). I guess it was the whole "save the people" facade when every now and then he did some shady shit. Like dude just own your shit. If you purposefully fucked with shit or purposefully made a "mistake" then just own it. I guess it was just the phony niceties that just really turned me off of his character. I don't hate him by any means though. He played the games and he played them damn well (sometimes using his sheep as stepping stones LMAO). - It might be harsh to say, but it was obvious some cast members were dead weight and really only had one-off contributions. The "underdog" group that Orbit was running was the only thing keeping some of them alive, carrying them to the end. - Guillaume and Dong Jae's early eliminations really hurt me (lol). I think we would've gotten some really good moments from them and I think they would've been EXTREMELY useful for some of the main games and prize games. But alas, it is what it is. - I actually really liked Dong Joo and thought she really did deserve to make it as far as she did. - I would love to see a second season where we get to see more skilled people make it further (no shade to some of the cast members. It's just that it was like we were watching Orbit drones half the show). Like I said, Dong Jae and Guillaume's early elimination really hurt because some of the high level competition we could have had in the latter half of the show. - I honestly loved Shi Won as much as I loved Seokjin. Again, they have crazy chemistry and I would love to see them do a drama or movie together. - This show just really pushed some of these people's brains and emotions to the max. I was getting second-hand anxiety just from watching. - Overall I really enjoyed it and highly recommend, especially if you're into games, mind-fuckery, and smart people doing smart people shit.
People who think Orbit is genuinely kind are naive. Do you truly believe that someone who is genuinely considerate…
You hit the nail right on the head. I guess what's so off-putting about the character he tries to paint in the show is that he never actually owns up to it when he's actually acting in his own self interest. It's the "woe is me" and "I'm trying to save everyone" shtick every time that is just so... Orbit is extremely intelligent. His "character" in the show is neither overwhelmingly bad, nor overwhelmingly good. For me he's just someone who used other people to fulfill his self interest into getting to the finale. I mean he played the social game REALLY well I'll give him that.
This movie is so camp and I LOVE IT. I think everyone should at least give it a go because there's a chaotic mother-daughter duo, loads of representation, and LOTS of cursing. I thought this was a fun and heartwarming movie with some pretty great music to go along with it. A new favorite of mine most definitely. We need more camp Korean movies ASAP!
What an amazing and important show, but damn them English subs are breaking my brain. I feel as though there definitely needs to be some re-vamping of the subtitles because there was a lot of careless mistakes and translation mistakes that can end up being problematic in the future. Also in the first 3 episodes its nearly impossible to decipher an entire conversation clearly because of how choppy and lack-luster the subs are. The subs really are my only complaint seeing as how sub-par subs can lead to some things being unjustly misconstrued or misunderstood--on the English speaking side of things at least. Really great show though and I love the entire cast with my whole heart.
I’m sorry to say it but this was kinda shit. Don’t get me wrong, the overall message and stuff was actually…
Like I’m not going to be the person to say everything DESERVES a happy ending, because a lot of stories just don’t have happy endings and that’s ok, but the ending for this drama was SOOOOO unnecessary and it basically unravels the entire message that the show was trying to go for. They were trying to convey the fact that love is essentially love and that love between men isn’t bad or should be punished. BUT THEN THEY PROCEED TO PUNISH THIS LOVE BY KILLING NUER AT THEIR FUCKING WEDDING? Idk if I’m reading into this too much but it just seems a bit distasteful to me and a poor choice from a writing standpoint. The ending is definitely giving “we just wanna shock you by having this surprise twist that literally doesn’t even make sense, but we’re going to make it seem like there’s a message to it by saying so so that people don’t come for us. Also we can’t have gay happiness and marriage without misery or death!” Like I said, I get sad or unhappy endings, it’s bound to happen and that’s life, but this could’ve been done SOOOOOO much better. The writers basically tore down their actually good writing within the last 15 minutes of the show. What a bummer :(
I’m sorry to say it but this was kinda shit. Don’t get me wrong, the overall message and stuff was actually really good and realistic, but they couldn’t have gone about telling it in a more messy manner. The acting was stale and, for me, the leads had little chemistry. The cinematography was lack luster and the editing and story was choppy most of the time. Not to mention it was also difficult to sort out a timeline. The characters lacked personality and it was hard to connect or feel anything for the characters despite the story they were trying to tell. Like I said in the beginning, I loved the message of the story and how they dealt with some things BUT the overall drama is just dragged down from what it’s lacking— which is basically everything. Also the ending made like 0 sense and it just felt like a cop-out? I mean if someone else sees something different, ok, but me for me it just felt like something to shock the audience and make them feel emotional. Like I get what they were “supposedly” trying to say , but they could’ve made it actually make sense with the story and not just throw it in there to throw it in there. I see people giving this high praise and stuff but it just wasn’t doing much for me; emotionally and story-wise. Also it was terribly boring, I fell asleep every episode and had to pick up where I left off. I think the acting really bogged this drama down and if the acting and chemistry was actually good it could’ve enhanced the story ALOT. But we all can’t win can we?
