i'm also waiting ... and only joined the 2ha fandom a few months ago. i can't imagine how it's like for people who have been waiting since 2020. everyday i check twitter for updates, even if its rumours lol
Is there any clue or hint if this is ever going to air
i’ve been thinking about this too and looking around for news on it. with till the end of the moon currently airing and its popularity, also with luo yunxi in a leading role hopefully there'll be some buzz around it again. a few spoilers/set leaks were recently spreading around on twitter too and since it's the 3rd anniversary since filming first started there's been renewed interest in knowing when hyx is gonna release.
streets are saying 2023 i even saw someone saying june 2023 but we'll probably be clowned again lmao, that's what we've been hearing for the previous years and each time it never came out. i suspect they’re just announcing dates to keep interest and anticipation levels high so it doesn’t die down by the time it’s finally released.
jokes aside, with the ccp policy crackdown, i think as of now, all the danmei productions are currently in limbo. but then again, there was also news that ccp wants to revive its local drama market to compete with k-dramas so maybe that will lead to something? danmei/dangui dramas have huge international fanbases and will really help with popularizing c-dramas.
ultimately hyx's release depends on a combination of factors - mainly tencent and related production companies & also the government policies. right now i'm guessing it's gov policies that are restricting it cos look at tgcf live action and donghua s2 also sitting in the basement. they can't be released until they get green light from the government. production companies/actors/directors/related people sometimes post behind the scenes pics or reference the drama maybe to keep people interested while they wait for things to change before dramas like hyx can be released. i doubt tencent will completely shelve the drama - they've spent too much effort, time & budget on it. plus it's already passed censorship and completed post-production. it's literally just sitting there waiting to be released. the potential for hyx to blow up is huge - other adaptations of 2ha (manhua, official english translation) are still currently being released, so interest in the story is still pretty high at the moment. these two years are the perfect time to drop hyx imo.
i’d probably keep a lookout for updates around the time that tteotm finishes releasing cos the production company who did hyx’s special effects is the exact same one that worked on tteotm. also it’s a luo yunxi drama. if they wanted to generate hype for hyx again, they could do well to take advantage of tteotm’s popularity to drop something.
so for the question of when hyx is gonna be released, it's really a waiting game. maybe i’m being too hopeful, but i’d like to think it’s a matter of when, not if.
