I'm considering picking it up again, it's just that watching everyone hate Jinmi all of a sudden was hard for me, especially since I thought her actions were out of character. Thanks for your response

Thank you for your polite response. It took me a lot of will to drop it because I had already invested so much time into it.
Just personally I don't like it when they kill off a handful of characters at the same time, especially since it was all of the good characters (parents AND Liaoyuan :( )
I assume Sui He was the perpetrator transformed into Xu Feng, which doesn't make sense for her to frame the guy she loves... And it my mind no matter what the pill did, it shouldn't have taken away Jinmi's reasoning enough for her to suspect and then kill a friend in cold blood (the pill clearly still allows her to feel platonic and familial love).
So yeah those were my major concerns among others. But since the replies have been so earnest I might pick it up again.

A lot of unnecessary deaths or deaths occurring in a silly way, starting from Jin Mi in the mortal world. And my preference with death in fiction is that people should only be able to return via reincarnation otherwise it undermines the tragedy of the death. I feel like the latter deaths were only done to drag out the story or forcefully make things sad.
Jin Mi and Night Deity became unlikeable and I lost sympathy for either of them.... Really a shame for a visually stunning show with good actors, soundtrack and initially good characters. Opinion only, if you enjoyed the show I'm happy for you.

I'm on episode 5. I do feel like it's overrated.... the action scenes are very exciting and it's well produced but I like the chemistry between the side couples rather than the leads?
The female lead is not written that well. Every time the male lead blows her off justifiably, she gets pissed and walks away. The main distinguishing factor between her and the female leads of other series is that she is mature and intelligent, rather than ditzy and 'tsundere'. But when they argue she becomes very childish anyway. Literally happens like once an episode. She's supposed to be very clever but instead she acts selfishly. She keeps asking if he's okay because his job so traumatic then goes and sulks when she can't see him. Really doesn't make sense.
And maybe I'm just too cynical but given that it was 'love at first sight' and their jobs kind of make it hard for them to meet and they've had several arguments. Tbh they are like strangers ended up oversharing with each other and don't get along but are attracted to each other. See how weird that sounds. They don't have that much chemistry.
I feel like it could've been great if not for the dialogue. Dialogue is such a powerful thing. You can make it seem as if the characters just 'click' together and enjoy every passing second with each other. Instead they wasted it, half on cheesy lines, half on arguments, along with a bit of exposition. And when they do manage to meet, all they do is make goo goo eyes at each other and occasionally tell lame jokes about how attractive/unattractive the other is. When that happens, not original nor enjoyable to watch
