the ending is kind of cool in its concept, but it feels like they still had things to say. it didn't strike as an open ending but more as if the show got axed.
i enjoyed how the show didn't outright make us suspect sunho, yet built no attachement either. no matter how sincere their partnership is shown through junhyuk's prism, there's striking emotional blankness in it for the viewer that feels like the show wants us to notice. if deliberate, such a masterful narrative move.
this show's production value is a can of beer. however you look at it, it's weird when the same five characters move between same three locations throughout the whole thing, there are not even doctors in a hospital, and the police raid is just two cops and some dude. i enjoyed the dynamic between the mains though, it feels genuine and meaningful, and i'm glad it's not an outright romantic relationship because the source mango is pretty cringe.
they are not coincidences, they're consequences of a one old case
they're literally not xd
a bunch of politicians keep poping up because they're connected to each other thru one old paper and a murder.
the hostess got killed *because* being a witness of that decade old murder, she returned to blackmail one of them.
Yoori chose to get involved *because* it's her father who got killed back in the hospital ten years ago.
Dohyun happened to receive the heart instead of him *because* of his father's deal.
He and Yoori fully intentionally got themselves into investigation in the present *because* of what happened to them in the past.
Jin found Dohyun *because* she knew he is the boy with her son's heart.
And so on. A case connected several people by sheer chance ten years ago, then in the present they of course got once again involved because one guy started the gears and all that dirt began to come afloat. The only coincidence is Cho gi tak sister's case, altho to me seems more like just a blatant plot device to trigger cho go tak's decision to work with Dohyun.
