actually its just about right, this is when things begin to go haywire and he begins to get ruthless. We all know he's from the future, he has some sentiments towards life and people in generall.
But he becomes ruthless and gathers more power so he doesn't need to bow to anybody not even the emperors or grandmasters as well as protect those he cares about.
