At first I didn't have any high expectations bc the teddy bear becoming a human in the synsobis sounded funny to me, but who am I to judge when I watched many Chinese and Korean dramas about foxes, beasts, tigers, trees, fireflies, butterflies, flowers turning into a human?
I was surprised by episode 1 and got hooked. I do not consider this just another "BL series" its more than that, I consider it a "lakorn." Usually people term BL series separately from Thai lakorns.
The main couple is gay, yes. But the story doesn't just revolve around them, so much things are going on, hidden secrets, crime, investigation, abuse, manipulation, trauma, etc involving so many families and characters.
People tend to associate angry/moody/toxic characteristics of a male lead in a BL for the purpose of it directed to a female audience. But actually bipolar characters like this are in all lakorns, you'd know what I mean if you watch lakorns that are not just BL.
Lakorn checklist: Lengthy 1 hour30 minutes 16 episodes: Check Every character slapping each other: Check Slap and kiss: Check Manipulative characters: Check ML with anger issues: Check Misunderstandings that escalate: Check Every character is bipolar: Check Every character is nosy: Check Borderline nosy neighbors: Check Crime: Check Every character is shameless: Check Crazy female characters obsessed with a man: Check Crazy characters ordering a crime: Check
There's just so much more reasons that makes this a lakorn but this is the limit of my creativity lol.
You might think these are reasons why I dislike this lakorn but these are actually reasons why I LOVE it. I love me some Thai lakorns and Korean makjang.
The story didn't change at all. Did they cut out some less important parts and jump over to the more important…
I understand, I prefer rereading the manhwa a million times over rewatching the drama too, I just appreciate the fact they adapted the manhwa into a live action, it shows their effort and love for the original story which makes me happy
The story didn't change at all. Did they cut out some less important parts and jump over to the more important…
Yeah they didn't have any actual time skips/gaps, basically they just removed lines/scenes from the same day as in the drama that aren't really that important at all and were just fillers more than anything, but I guess those fillers made their relationship development in the manhwa look more realistic than in the drama bc of more time together or more time before a situation is resolved if that makes sense, I guess that's what ticked fellow fans of the manhwa off
I really don't want this show to end, I always loved Zee's role in the BLs I've watched him in. He's so comfortable with skinship and always shows strong tension and chemistry with the other male leads, his acting is so realistic. I love him so much and all his roles.
And I'm loving NuNew's role as well, he's so good at switching character personality from a rebellious adventurous student with a hidden identity as a singer and it actually being his amazing real voice to a "really good boy" around Lian acting like he's the perfect angel.
No wonder Lian likes to tease Kuea that he's an Annabelle doll (a haunted doll from a horror movie) which gives us the hint that he knows about Kuea's other personality and just wanna help him to take the mask off and be himself.
And to those who call Lian's character "abusive," oh please.. have we really watched the same drama? Or did you just drop it after ep 2
Love everything about this drama, the actors, acting, chemistry, story, production and progress. I wouldn't change a thing.
It was a not bad adaptation, but added nothing to the original story. The webtoon is still much better than the…
I read the webtoon very recently and binge read it over a week so I still had my memory of the story very fresh in my mind when I watched this drama adaptation, and yes they did stay true to the original story. They did "skip" and jump over some very minor and unimportant parts, even removed an annoying side character, but even their lines from the scenes the showed were unchanged. Same script, same scenes, just jumped over unimportant parts, bc how else can they fit 4 seasons of a manhwa in 8 tiny episodes. I'm impressed with what they managed to get done
This drama sucks. I prefer the comics version. Haebom here is so overacting.. I thought by hearing Cherry Blossoms…
The story didn't change at all. Did they cut out some less important parts and jump over to the more important parts so they can manage to fit 4 seasons of the manhwa in 8 very short episodes? Yes. Did the story change? Not at all. Were they successful in telling the story and staying true to the original, and told their background childhood story with all its highlights? Heck yes. Is this remake a masterpiece? No. Is it "gross"? NO
it could be the fact that I haven't read the comics, but I'm surprised by the average rating from everyone. I…
Since there's so many BLs constantly being produced non stop, people's standards keep increasing. Miss back in 2016 when we used to appreciate and be happy with any BL content made
I think watching this after Semantic Error ruined it for me... I was so hyped for having a great korean BL that…
The energy and chemistry is in the original story (manhwa) and it wasn't plain at all, but they they tried to fit 4 seasons of the manhwa in 8 short episodes of 20 minutes.
Both dramas were based on manhwas and each story is its own, they shouldn't even be compared. Both are really good in their own way
I started watching it today and I really love it already. I learned not to judge dramas by their MDL rating, this is the third airing BL I started this week despite the low MDL rating but they all turned out so good in their own unique ways and got me obsessed. These days MDL rating can't be trusted, literally every airing drama on the main page has a low rating, people randomly rating dramas they only watched an episode of upsets me.
The comedic sound effects in this drama never annoyed me as I like sitcom dramas, with or without the comedic sound effects its good either way.
And the way Rak looks at Diao kills me, the tension is strong even tho I'm only on ep 3 so far, there acting is so good, and their bickering just kills me I love it
I have been watching on Viki. Does anyone know if they are cutting /editing episodes?
Yup the one on Viki propably has some cut scenes bc when I first watched their "love" scene, it seemed off like its been cut off and I was right. Its not cut off on their offical channel on Youtube. There was around 2 minutes cut off from a scene when I rewatched an episode, there's probably other cut scenes in other episodes too. You are better off watching it on their official channel which is free and has English subtitles.
If you end up liking the manhwa and want to support the author by buying it then you can buy the first 2 volumes (not 2 seasons) from Harum.io, it'll be printed in Korean and will have full color
Ur analysis is making me go on lol. I cant wait to get to the part where they tone down the obsessiveness cause…
Glad my comment helped, yes his obsession did make me feel uneasy and uncomfortable. People collect things to keep as a memory but he goes overboard on that, its a real mental illness irl (a type of OCD), his friends realize that and help him get better.
He does mention that he is afraid of losing memories he loves today when tomorrow comes and that's why he loves photography, that's also the reason for collecting.
If you enjoyed this series, I highly suggests you to read the original manhwa by the same name which it was adapted from, its one of my favorite manhwas
a little bit disappointed bcus its seems choppy to me at times but overall its nice and cute..
Its bc its based on. korean manhwa that is 4 seasons long, they tried to put everything in this drama by chopping off the less unimportant parts, I appreciate this adaptation but I highly suggest you to read the manhwa
Okay, either I'm just totally behind on the times or I missed an earlier reference, I'm tired or something ...…
Toh has an obsession with collecting things, he once said to Nuea in the drama that he is afraid the beautiful things he sees today will be gone tomorrow, this is also why he love photography. Toh's friends were helping him to get over his obsession of collecting Nuea's things so they tried to stop him when they catch him in his routine of collecting Nuea's objects. They're helping him to get character development, basically helping him to let go of his stalking and obsession with collecting tendencies
I just started watching it today and binge watched up to ep 10, not gonna lie Toh's stalking/obsessive character did creep me out at first but Nuea isn't so innocent either, he's such a tease. I ended up liking this drama way more than expected, my mouth hurts from all the laughing and giggling. Its like the BL on crack, its weird but in a good way.
My favorite part is the character development, Toh's obsessive traits start to tone down with the help of his friends and Nuea's love gives him so much confidence. Toh comes off as a shy nerd but actually a perv and Nuea loves that LOL. I love how their relationship went from obsessive to a healthy relationship.
And I love Jao and sky as well, Sky is so sensual and caring to Jao, he's always so conscious of Jao's feelings and doesn't let anyone make fun of him.
Besides the stalking/obsession at the beginning, the relationship development starts to take a turn in a realistic way. I like how the usual feminine gay characters who are usually a side character and a source of entertainment are here respected and treated with the love they deserve as the main characters.
This brought me so much happiness all in one sitting.
