I am with you that they should have been more clear. I think many people read the novel are influenced by knowing that they didn't have sex that night. Although, I know the novel is a different work, and the translation I read is spotty, but I don't remember the hand thing so I wonder why added it. Especially since they cut Nuea creepily kissing Toh while he was sleeping in an earlier scene.

When I watched it I thought Toh gasped because he remembered the "promise." I think that is what was intended, but I do finally get what you saw. If that was what was intended (nuea groping toh while he was out, that waking Toh up) then yeah, not cool. That never crossed my mind, so my conclusion is still pretty much the same- it wasn't meant as a non-con scene but should have been shot more clearly.

I was trying to politely understand a different perspective, so I'm a little surprised my name is mentioned here. From looking at what everyone wrote, I think the show just wasn't clear enough about whether Toh was just drowsy or in an altered state (because typically mushrooms don't put you to sleep even if they are magic mushrooms so we have to just believe whatever the show says about Toh's reaction.) Also I thought Toh was guiding Nuea's hand, but I can see how there might be a different opinion. I don't the show meant to give us a NC scene, but I can understand how it might be seen that way. Although, with Kengla/Techno in LBC and Tharn/Type being so popular I do think people should be going after those kind of scenes first.
And I really think we need to acknowledge that sexual contact with a drunk person isn't automatically legally rape (at least in many places.) That's why we should be teaching enthusiastic consent.

Sure, I think that while in my state intoxication and are legally different things, it can be hard to tell the difference and that is why especially the college age group should assume someone isn't able consent if they are intoxicated in any way. And this show is targeted at a younger age group so I think it dropped the ball a little regarding that. I understand your concern there.
I am still confused about the touching part, because Toh was talking right before that and seemed to be moving Nuea's hand. This doesn't negate concerns about Toh's soberness, it just looked to be like he was awake. But for all I know we are talking about two different parts.

Did watch the scene from when Toh woke up when Nuea is just looking at him? I really am not trying to be rude. I just don't understand why you and your friends read him as asleep.

I'm trying to see what you see, but I still don't understand what you mean when you say Nuea touched while he was passed out. I saw: Toh wakes up, Nuea has one hand at his side and one supporting his head and is about six inches or more from Toh. Toh snuggles up to him and guides his hands under the blanket. Toh is moving and still awake. I would agree it's SA if Toh was asleep as you said, but that doesn't seem to the case. Maybe dubious consent, because Toh agreed to being kissed while drunk (before he was) but it can be argued previous consent doesn't count. It's a nuanced situation.
I heard that this series was hot trash, but kind of in a good way so i was planning on watching it. But i just…
Ummm...I don't think it gets less cringy but it does get better. I wasn't into the first episode but now I am addicted to it. It's more like you realize the main character isn't the only crazy one and that makes it work.
I didn't think Gun's acting was bad because he was giving me dramatic spoiled brat, which Sky is. I know he is genuinely hurt but he never considers how Sun grew up. He wants Sun, so he figures it's that simple. So the whiny-dramatic-teeth-gnashing -tantrumy-anger worked for me because Sky is a good person deep down but is also a spoiled brat.
