I saw ep 7. Now I knew Han Su had acted like a Japanese man toward Sun Ja. On the other hand Joseph , though he was a Christian man , acted like a typical Korean man at that time looking down on his own wife because she is a woman. Difference in culture is amazing.
I have watched this drama to the end and it was surprisingly quite entertaining. I gave 9 on my rating . I am not a big fan of Sung Hoon but I now know he can act well. Choi Yoon Young was good and Shim Ji Ho whom first time I watched in K drama, was very good in this. I dare to suggest Sung Hoon to play Soo Hyuk then it would make a lot of K drama fans happy. I love Kang Mon Do as the CEO who thinks and act s like a Japanese Yakuza boss . The story is very tragic with many twists and turns but surely its ridiculousness was fun to watch. I strongly believe the poor rating given is not right for this drama. It should be 7-8.
I just started watching (and its great!) but i am quite confused about the history. Can anyone rec me some article…
Since Meiji restoration in 1869 Japanese imperial gov. had set an eye on Korean peninsula. Their aim was to remove Chinese and Russian influence from the peninsula. American gov. and Europeans often went along with Japan. Black Dragon Society was a political lobbyist (Pan Asianism) which was at odds with Meiji gov. (Nationalism) therefore the group had operated in Asia not in Japan. They had aided the rebels in Korea and contributed to Japanese annexation. Japan had annexed Korea after winning the war against China in 1895 and Russia in 1905. Black Dragon Society had left Korea just before the annexation in 1910 as a no longer needed helper. In 1946, the organization was disbanded by American occupational Forces.
