First, I'm sorry you received so many hate comments. This is not right, it's bad and I wish people would stop using a screen as an excuse to be insulting.
As for what I wanted to say :
There are opinions, and then there are facts...

BOF went out in 2009. The remake Meteor Garden is coming out this year, 8 years after BOF. So saying that BOF made Meteor Garden happen is just nonsense. The manga and different drama series were also super popular, and they're the reason why BOF exists (BOF came just after the Japanese remakes, which had a huge success, which is why BOF was made just right after to capitalize on that success). When you say BOF is the one carrying the franchise, to me it sounds like you're just idolizing K-dramas because you love them and want them to be the biggest thing.
As for the "best" drama debate... I would use your own words to challenge your perception of american dramas : "And I am guessing you have only watched american dramas with average plots since you haven't seen dramas with amazing plots because they are a lot in the american dramas". Yes there is more sexuality in american dramas as a whole, doesn't mean that 1) all have those 2) the stories aren't worthwhile or can't tell touching love stories.
I'm not saying american dramas are better, to me to compare dramas per country is useless, there are so many different kind of dramas and each country will have strengths and weaknesses for each genre (plus the fact that personal taste and cultural background plays a huge role in someone enjoying a show). Kdramas aren't the best, neither are others. You prefer Kdramas over all the rest, and that's okay.

Hum, did you do your research on BOF ? Because the way I read your text, you seem to think the korean drama was the first to be made, than there were all those remakes, which isn't the case at all ! The k-drama was something like the 8th remake, so the hype was real well before that, Korea surfed on the wave.
Your point is still valid though, this story didn't need so much remakes (the japanese version will always be a soft spot for me, it's the drama that introduced me to all asian dramas).
