I apologize if my comment seemed that way. I'm not really good with English. I just wanted to express what I want.
I can easily tell that the novel is probably great just from watching the teaser and knowing a little about the story. I used to read novels as well, but these days I do not have much time to read. The main reason is that I only have my smartphone to read on, and staring at the screen often gives me migraines. Because of that, I mostly watch films and series on TV instead. Besides that, there are no BL novels that I can buy in physical form where I live. I am also more of a film guy. I enjoy seeing how directors interpret a story and express their own perspective. That is why I said what I said. BTW Thanks a lot for recommendation too.
Not everybody can enjoy novel. That's why Live Action and Directing Movies exist. You can call it dumb but some people only want to see the authenticity in Film perspective.
I really don't want this to end up like a normal , typical BL drama because this director always tends to do it that way. It really needs some refreshing perspectives, creativity, presentation, and sincerity. I don't mean that he isn't skillful, but I want another skillful director who can put their heart and time into it with a new and refreshing perspective. This series has the most potential among all the GMMTV 2026 lineup, at least for me.
Maybe you should wait until this show is better translated in your language to watch and fully critique the show.…
I already explained that I misinterpreted the story and apologized in my previous comment. Let me be clear , there are many people who watch solely for the couple's interaction. It’s sad but true that the BL industry is more or less about selling chemistry. I am not interfering with anyone’s tastes. It was my mistake to include the comment about 'being satisfied by just seeing their faces' under this series, because I have long accepted that Perth is talented and Santa is definitely improving in this one. I didn't mean that sentence to apply to this series specifically ,I was speaking about the BL industry as a whole and the fans who only watch for the actors. That's all. If you're not one of those people, it's easy to just ignore it. I could have deleted the comment, but I didn't because I already accepted my mistake. Moreover, I stated that I didn't mean to offend anyone. If there weren't actually fans like the ones I described, GMMTV wouldn't have double standards between their series. You can clearly see that some series are not great in terms of technical aspects, yet they still have decent ratings. Again, I'm sorry if I offended you.
And one more thing, I always goes for English subtitles if it's available. My own language subtitles is my last choice. If I had choices , believe me , I will only watch it in Eng Sub. I avoid pirate site as much as I can to support the artists and always purchase subscription. This series is only available in YouTube (as I currently know) and it is also banned in my area. I can simply use VPN but I wasn't watching it on my phone but on TV. My TV doesn't have VPN.
I'm sorry maybe you missed some things but this isn't bipolar disorder and the show doesn't treat it like that,…
I wrote those specific sentences because most GMMTV shows tend to disappoint me one way or another. Don’t get me wrong, I’m saying this with good intentions. Seeing other production companies put more and more effort into making BL series, I naturally expect more from GMMTV, especially since it’s the biggest entertainment company in Thailand. I expect more than just normal.
Every time I hear good things about a show or see high ratings, most of them still don’t click with me. They always fall short in one way or another, especially when it comes to directing and production.
To make things clear, I’m not saying this show lacks those aspects. Out of all the BL series currently airing, I chose to watch this one because I tried episode 1 and genuinely liked it. It has decent production quality, solid directing, and most importantly, the acting is on point. I’m a very picky person when it comes to BL(I know that’s just my own opinion and doesn’t really matter) I still chose this series because I liked what I saw.
That’s why, after misunderstanding where the show was going, the disappointment hit harder and I got frustrated. Even though there are countless BL series these days, only a few have actually clicked with me. So I really didn’t want this one to go wrong for me.
Everything I said comes from good intentions. I genuinely feel like the expectations from most BL fans are too low. P’Tha even once mentioned himself that he keeps making so many BL series because fans want to see the actors frequently. There was also a time when GMMTV clearly put very little effort into production.
I just want him to change that perspective, and I think that has to start with fans being less easy on BL series. I never meant to offend anyone.
I'm sorry maybe you missed some things but this isn't bipolar disorder and the show doesn't treat it like that,…
Maybe I missed the topic about " age regression". For my defense, I didn't watch it in English Subtitles. I watched it in my own language subtitles and I guess they mistranslated it. I've been interpreted it as some sort of bipolar (but not entirely) untill bow. My bad. I've been feeling really strange and akward with how the story is going because I didn't really satisfied with how the doctor handle the situation and how Pobmek didn't rush to doctor for the whole Episode 2. So I lost connection with the show afterwards. That's why I wrote this.
The intention and message behind the story are actually quite good, and I do like it. But there’s one thing that’s really bugging me, and I honestly can’t accept it.
The whole situation with Solar/Sun is basically framed like bipolar disorder caused by childhood trauma. Bipolar is not a joke, and it’s not something that should be treated this casually. It’s an actual psychiatric condition that needs to be diagnosed and handled by a professional. Yet in Episode 2, they spent the whole time trying to deal with it by themselves, and none of the characters even mentioned seeing a psychiatrist or reacted like this was a serious medical issue. That’s just very unrealistic.
Even when Pobmek went to see the doctor, the doctor only explained the condition and barely said anything about actual treatment (at least that was what the series showed and I didn't notice the doctor mentioned about the treatment). Then they basically came up with their own way to “treat” it, which made it even worse. Bipolar disorder is not something you can solve with love, patience, or emotional support alone. Support helps, sure, but this is still a psychiatric condition that usually needs proper treatment, professional care, and often medication too.
And the worst part is Solar’s mom. She barely seemed to care that much about Solar’s condition and only called once, at least up to Episode 3 since that’s all I’ve finished so far. That part was just very unrealistic and honestly hard to accept.
That’s what makes it frustrating because the story itself is actually good and I do like the intention behind it. But the way they handled Solar’s mental health was just careless. Most GMMTV stories actually have a lot of potential, but they always fall short when it comes to the screenplay. The ideas are good, but the execution is usually just mediocre. The stories have potential, but the production, the directing, and even the acting in some series are just average at best.
I know this is already good, but I really want to see them in a more normal, pure romance or rom-com genre or even slice-of-life. I think they would both be pretty well suited for it. It’s just that I’m not really into mafia-type stories personally.
I already feel sad and miss it. Although it has its own weakness , no other series in the same genre could ever pull off like DUANG WITH YOU did. The best of the best. 😭 It's already 3 am aand I can't sleep with this heavy feeling.
Xixi and Zhaozhao pretty much confirmed S2 in their live, but don't take it too seriously and raise high hope since everything can change when it comes to Chinese BL... LOL
They probably will rush thw story line in the last episode. I am sure that episode 9 is gonna be like all over…
You're right. The reason I like this series is because of the chemistry of the main leads. The directing did a great job and also the story is great too, but the screenplay somehow lacks something, and the side couple did nothing for the story and just felt like filler (dunno how they were in the book, though). It definitely has the potential to be much better than this. I'm not complaining, but I just want it to be better than this because I like this series so much. I just want to like it more.
It takes sooooo much effort to get in the mood to watch each episode every week with that unsynced voice-over. To be honest, I enjoy their live streams and real-life chemistry more than the series itself. LOL
I didn't mean the series is bad. I just wish they hadn't done the voice-over this badly. That's the weakest part of the series. And I'm also pretty sure they'll end this season without much happening since it's moving so slowly, even though it's already Episode 7. It feels like there's still so much left to happen, and everything is taking forever.
Ngl, as much as I hate the Nanny, she got a point. Like excuse me, why Qin was never hugged once ? Because they…
I’m pretty sure this kind of plot was intentionally included to reflect parents like Qin’s. But since it’s a rom-com series overall, it will likely end with a happy ending to avoid making the story too heavy.
The BL industry nowadays is filled with mature content because of fans like you, so don’t worry, there will be even more in the future. A cute, warm, puppy love type of show won’t hurt you. Even if you don’t like it, you can simply skip it. It’s a shame to rate this show only 1.5 stars. For people like me, who find unnecessary mature content annoying as FUCK, Duang With You is gold. And another thing, even though it’s more of a puppy love story and not very mature, I dare to say this is one of the best-written stories and has some of the best characters among BL series with a similar type of plot.
I think I can almost guarantee this series will go downhill toward the end because of the director. I thought the project hadn’t started yet, but it’s already on Q6. LOL. At this rate, there will probably be no quality at all. I hate how New keeps rushing projects and jumping from one to another without giving himself enough rest in between. That’s definitely not a good thing. Just take things slowly and rethink your work, for God's sake. Even if GMMTV is rushing, you're the director! Just make some qualities already , not just quantity.
how to retweet a comment on mdl!!! i wasn’t excited about finding out he was the director of my romance scammer…
As for Romance Scammer, I'm currently only on EP 4, so I'm sorry I couldn't read your comment completely. I was taking the show slowly because the early episodes are fun to watch. Both couples have nice chemistry, and the story is good enough since the production team behind it is a great one. But I was honestly scared about the later episodes because this director is very, very good at ruining things. 😂 Even though I haven't read your comment fully yet, I can sense that you're furious and disappointed ,which probably means the later episodes of Romance Scammer go downhill. Looks like another good potential has been wasted , Again!
He always ruins series with strong potential because of his cliché, mediocre, and repetitive directing style. Not a single one of his projects has met my expectations. I really wish GMMTV would change the director for 17th Spring and When Orange Falls, as they’re the series I’m most anticipating from the GMMTV 2026 lineup.
Both stories need authentic warmth, nostalgia, and real dedication, qualities he consistently fails to deliver. And just look at how many series he’s directing in 2026. No director should be handling that many projects in one year. It inevitably leads to overlap and creative fatigue.
I truly hope he drops out of the two series I mentioned. Otherwise, they might end up like HEAD 2 HEAD, another highly anticipated series that was completely ruined under his direction.
Another thing is that I don’t personally dislike him, because some of you might like his work and find his directing style suitable for you. I just wish he wasn’t involved in the shows I’ve been anticipating.
And let me be the villain and say one thing. Most of you BL fans set the bar too low when it comes to BL. That’s why directors like him keep getting so many projects, because many of you mainly watch for the actors and sometimes the story, but not the creativity or authenticity most of the time.
It’s not the 2010s anymore. Just look at the works from DomundiTV. Their production value and directing are getting better series after series. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like all of their shows, and there is only one series that I personally like. Still, it’s undeniable that their production value and directing are on a different level compared to some of the shows from GMMTV, especially the ones directed by this guy.
Sometimes it feels like BL is treated as a separate genre with its own lower standard, and that’s frustrating for someone who truly values filmmaking. If you really want the BL industry to improve, which it already is slowly doing, then you guys need to accept the hard truth and start setting higher standards and expectations.
You will understand my point if you truly understand the real standards and values of filmmaking.
