ThamePo: The show where the characters wait for the actors.
ThamePo is a beautifully written show that was beautifully acted by William and Est. As the show goes on, it is clear that no other actor can play Po as well as Est or Thame as well as Po.
Now the storyline for ThamePo is relatively simple: a director (Po) meets an idol (Thame) and they fall in love while trying to repair the said idol’s group (MARS). But the show is so much deeper than its plot makes it to be. It delves into idols falling in love and the impossible expectations idols have to succeed. It dives into the detriments a popular member faces. It deals with the fame that comes with being an idol but the loneliness one feels even when successful. But the part that stood out to me was the air of normalcy. At its core, ThamePo is a story about wanting the mundane. It’s about wanting to the small things in life. Est was wonderful as Po. He perfectly captures a man who wants normal in a world where everyone wants to be the best. But William as Thame was probably one of the best parts of the show. William captures a lonely boy who wants to succeed but also be in love. Thame is the heart of the show, and if another actor played Thame, they would not have successfully pulled it off.
William and Est played their roles perfectly, but I have to give a shoutout to LYKN, especially Nut. Aside from Thame and Po, Jun was my favorite character. Nut brought a lot of depth into Jun that surprised me. All in all, ThamePo is a beautiful show that everyone should watch.
