Hwayoung did bad overacting in Father is Strange, I mean really bad overacting. AoY was decent, she fit the character. Kinda like Hyeri was good in Reply 1988 because she fit the character perfectly and the writing and direction were phenomenal. So Hwayoung’s actually bad at acting who had one bad character so in reality she’s no better than PSH, whose only good ones were her movies and perhaps flowerboy next door (but that’s because I think it had a natural J-dorama vibe)

Main leads are Shen Yue, Chen Duling and Xiong Ziqi. These three are the main leads in these drama. Shen Yue will play An Sheng, Chen Duling will play Qi Yue and Xiong Ziqi is going to play Su Jiaming. The novel and the movie both tell a story about Qi Yue and An Sheng. Su Jiaming has a smaller role. This drama is NOT going to be a typical drama where a man and a woman get together. This drama is going to tell a story about the friendship between two girls. It’s not going to be a typical romance drama if they follow the original novel and the film version.

How reliable are these casting news? I don’t think Shen Yue’s agency has anything announced or confirmed about this one yet. Just because it’s a youth drama remake, you can’t just slap Shen Yue’s name into this. Same with the rumored dramas with Song Weilong and Lai Guanlin. She hasn’t confirmed any of these news so better not attach her name as if she’s already a leading lady in these dramas

What do you mean? She is the main actress. The drama is literally called Qi Yue and An Sheng in its native language title.

There’s no english translation so you have to share the text in your mail drafts and from there copy paste it to google translator because the website doesn’t let you directly copy the text. It’s very hard to find a concise english translation of Qi Yue and An Sheng. The book and the movie version are different from each other because they reversed the ending in the movie. So I can’t tell for sure how the drama version will turn out.

The book is a series of short stories so there isn’t a concise plot but in the book version, An Sheng has an unfortunate ending. In the movie version, Qi Yue is the one to have a sad ending [spoiler] Qi Yue becomes pregnant with Jia Ming’s child but she keeps it a secret and only tells An Sheng, but Qi Yue dies because of pregnancy complications and An Sheng ends up raising Qi Yue’s child as her own [spoiler]

First, I don’t even like PSH or most drama actors out there because there’s something unnatural and repetitive about their acting. Second, you sure do find a lot of time to keep tab on and to comment about an actress whom you’ve ’blacklisted'. Third, I’m making rounds and checking comments on all actresses post #metoo and looking out for hypocrites who scream #metoo but blame an actress for ’ruining’ a drama. By all means, if you think you're superior, go and make out with your oppars on screen, especially when a director has ’surprised’ you by telling an actor to kiss you in a dark closet when there’s no such scene on the script :)

You can criticize her acting all you want and put out actual arguments instead of saying misogynistic things like ’’hope she kisses better in real life’’ or ’’hope her bf teaches her kissing’’ or ’’she should retire’’. I sure do hope you say the same things about the countless bad oppar actors who look more awkward kissing. [spoiler:] The story is about two girls who are different from each other - Qi Yue is the quiet and obedient girl who has loving parents and An Sheng is the rebellious girl whose father passed away when she was young and her mother is absent. Two girls bond immediately and are inseparable in their youth. They have grand plans and clear path set for them. Until Qi Yue falls in love with the top student Su Jia Ming. An Sheng at first feels awkward about it but soon accepts it and tries to tell Jia Ming to take good care of Qi Yue. Jia Ming reciprocates Qi Yue’s feelings but can’t help feeling attracted to the carefree An Sheng. When An Sheng realizes that she’s starting to catch feelings for Jia Ming too, she decides to run away with her musician boyfriend. The two girls don’t see each other again but keep contact through post cards -Qi Yue gets into a university, studies and graduates and get a stable job while expecting to marry Jia Ming, who keeps looking for excuses to delay their marriage. An Sheng leads a carefree life, a rough, hand to mouth life, changing boyfriends while traveling around the world. They can’t go on like this forever when they have so much unresolved resentment between them and slowly the truth will unravel, changing their fates forever. [spoiler]
I warmly recommend you to watch the film version ’’Soulmate’’ (dir. Derek Tsang) because the main actresses Zhou Dongyu and Ma Sichun did an amazing job. The film and the drama are both based on a novel called ’’Farewell to Vivian’’ and the short stories of ''Qi Yue and An Sheng'’ by Anni Baobei. The film version reversed the ending, and the drama version will follow more of the novel version.

She’s fine at acting, a lot of shitty dramas though. She should focus more on films where she can truly show her potential. All the idiots who keep bringing her boyfriend here and saying that he should teach her kissing, did you lose your brain? Y’all seriously dumb if you thing she’s the same on-screen and off-screen, you don’t even know how acting works?

He’s decent at best, he heavily relies on his height and looks and that Jiang Chen image. Shen Yue is the one who was the real star of the show, her acting was great for a rookie, especially when she had a more challenging character.
