This drama is really good drama... Why rating is 8.3 ?????
it's because some people don't understand or accept the fact that this drama is following the culture of the time period this drama takes place in. what i meant by this is: the male lead having concubines and children already. Males of his age and position in that time period are all married, having a wife, many concubines, and children. another reason is because they don't like/understand that it's a slow burn romance so ofc the beginning will be a bit slow and boring.
these people gave their low ratings at only the first few episodes. I really don't understand people who rates a drama when things are just starting. That's like judging a book by its cover; judging something base off of a tiny piece of the whole. I personally would never rate a drama if I didn't get ATLEAST halfway through the drama or fiinished it. because it would be an unfair rating to the whole drama/movie.

I first came to know who Ren Jia Lun is through 'Destiny of the White Snake' Although i ended up dropping the drama, i did noticed Jia Lun is quite charming; He totally caught my attention and made it to my list of 'liked actors' However i didn't watch anymore of his works (i'm not one who would watch a drama just cuz i like the actors/actresses, the story has to be interesting too for me to watch it) I finally give 'Under the Power' a try after clips of the drama keeps popping up to me on social media. BOY! how i regret not following up on his projects. I fell in love with his acting and character in 'Under the Power'. One can clearly see the change in his face when Lu Yi change from his mature self to an 8 yrs old child, his acting was so convincing! And not just that, he's also super talented too. I love his voice!
Just finished this drama two days ago. Can't believe I didn't know about this drama until now. The main leads are so perfect together. Their looks just match each other so much! They have the best chemistry together! so many adorable and sweet scenes! and the acting is phenomenal!
I've watched a good number of chinese custom dramas that I really likes but this one is different. I have to admit i fastforwarded A LOT of scenes that's not the main leads (something I don't do for dramas that i really like) but despite that, this is the first drama that i'm having a really hard time moving on from. Maybe it's because i'm not satisfy with the ending? i wish there were more scenes of our leads at the end. I feel so empty :'( I want more of this leads! I hope they get to be pair again in the future (yes, i know that Allen Ren is married in real life but i like him with Seven Tan. I think they're perfect together in dramas)

in the end credits, it says Ma Jiaming played Xun Ya. I tried to look him up but only found his profile on Viki and dramawiki sites. And even on these two sites, they don't have much info about him. I'm guessing he's either not popular enough or haven't been in that much movie/drama. But considering he kinda look like Yang Yang and is quite handsome, i suppose it must be the 2nd reason
i was so disappointed and infuriated by the ending that i completely forgot i ever watched this drama until coming across it again lol I remember i was so happy when it came out, seeing the good chemistry between DFBB & LHC only to be disappointed by the mistreatment DFBB received from LHC after she saved his ugly life so many damn times. He was not just ungrateful to her for saving his life, he even stabbed/killed her so many times. GOSH! after 7 long yrs, I still remember the anger i had for this drama's shitty ending. this goes to prove that this drama is the first to disappoint me
The ending of this drama is definitely the cause for it's low rating!
can anyone tell me if this one has a happy ending? I've seen the version starring Nicholas Tse & Dicky cheung, and that version had a very sad/tragic ending. I don't want to watch this version if it's gonna be the same kind of ending.
At first i thought Hao Chen is actually trying to help Xuanji but after knowing about the back story i can say…
I didn't do any background search on this drama when i first started watching because it was really interesting to me and i didn't wanna spoil anything for myself. but I hated Hao Chen the moment he started to show/get involve in XJ's life. Guess I have the ability to sense a villain in a drama even when their true color is not reveal yet hahaha

productive procrastination is currently subbing it. she's not picking from ep24 but is subbing from ep1 instead since the other subs was not accurate. And because of this, it's only been subbed up to ep12. she's also working on other projects at the same time too so subs don't come out fast.
