@NotaRobot precisely my point. imagine if Knock cheated after all the love, care and attention he received from Korn. This is the writer's way of putting a twist to the story. i cant wait to see how it ends.

@blacksky1263 Thanks for your insightful addition to my previous post. I think the writer portrayed Korn as the cheater because he would be the male equivalent partner in a straight relationship. if you think about it, guys are always protective of their girlfriends, and it is still not out of character for them to cheat. Knock is being portrayed as the pampered princess who is always catered to by his prince charming. he is satisfied with the attention, love, and care showered by Korn, he has no reason to cheat.
contrary to people might think, this is a realistic version of a relationship (a possibility out of many). you would rarely see a long-lasting couple that has not experienced a form of cheating or challenges in their relationship; what matters is how they overcame the problem. i dont think this season was written poorly at all; the writers are trying to pass a message using the most common form of problem in relationships-cheating. my understanding of the imbibed message in this drama is that there are key elements that needs to be present in a healthy relationship e.g love, trust, compromise, loyalty, effort, maturity, communication, and forgiveness.
Love- this is the element that excites lovers or lovers-to-be. it is usually perceived as the main element and in some cases, the only element required in a relationship. this is false; all the elements listed above work together to achieve a healthy relationship. a missing element could result in serious relationship problems. as displayed in the lives of all the characters except Fai, the love was present but other elements were missing in their relationships.
Trust- this element is very important; it was present in Cho and Yihwa's relationship. the lack thereof is displayed in knock and Korn's relationship. korn was constantly worried that knock would cheat on him because he used to be a straight guy. insecurity or mistrust bombards one's mind with countless unnecessary probabilities of an outcome which could result in an illogical or irrational decision that would be damaging to one's relationship. e.g Korn's decision to sleep with Pete; Korn and Knock listening and believing Pete's lies. trusting your partner reduces or eliminates unnecessary tension in the relationship.
Compromise- if you are the type that always wants to have it your way all the time, it would be a lot harder to keep a good and lasting relationship. compromise in relationships is another way of showing genuine love and care. in the drama, Knock always had to have his way even to the point of pressurizing Korn to come out to his parents; however, he stepped up and told his parents first to take the pressure off his partner.
Effort- whether we like it or not, relationships require constant effort to maintain. we are either working on ourselves or working on each other. e.g Korn would make sure Knock is okay and ready to take on the world; Cho was attentive to Yihwa's needs as well. however, effort in relationships cannot be one-sided; the one-sided effort will still result in relationship problems. Farm was not even putting any effort at all.
Loyalty- this means you stand by your partner no matter what. Knock and Korn should have refuted or defended each other when confronted with Pete's lies. Cho confidently said Yiwha would not cheat on him. what do you do when you hear or come across something negative about your partner? do you make assumptions or jump into conclusions? or do you refute it publicly and discuss it privately with your partner?
Maturity- a critical element of a healthy relationship. immaturity was displayed in Farm's character through his pointless effect for revenge. Korn also displayed immaturity at the beginning of the series through the negligence of his work and relationship. "maturity is the ability to think, speak and act your feelings within the bounds of dignity"-Samuel Ullman. with age comes reponsibity; being a responsible adult even in your relationship is crucial.
Communication- the make it- or break it element. without proper communication methods, it is impossible for any relationship to work. I feel like the characters were aware of their impending doom but didn't discuss their issues with their respective partner resulting in a lot of hurts. rather than confiding in each other, Korn and Knock discussed their issues with outsiders giving them the permission to intrude in their relationship. a love relationship is between two individuals, never create a space for a third person. Pete, in this case, was the third person. also, Yihwa did not discuss how she was feeling with Cho ahead of time, maybe they could have taken a vacation together to strengthen their relationship. likewise, Rit vaguely mentioned his issues with Farm. all relationship needs a good conflict resolution technique, this starts with good communication.
Forgiveness- a neglected element required in a lasting relationship. Forgiveness is the recognition that humans are bound to make mistakes and should be given second chances to make up for their error. a little or first mistake should not always result in a relationship write-off. if there is any chance that the relationship can be salvaged, you should never give up so as to leave no room for regret. a mistake does not remove the element of genuine. "to err is human, to forgive is divine"-Alexander Pope. forgiveness can be a way to show love as well.
in conclusion, every relationship is different so never compare yours with anybody's relationship. do what works best for you. the cheating in this series just symbolizes one of the variations of problems that could arise in a relationship. also, it shows that things do not always work out the way we plan; never leave issues unattended to until the last minute; be careful because not all friend has your best interest at heart. this is not to condone cheating in any way.
