You're right about the feeling about missing something. Anyway to develop him as a character that does other things, not just stays in prison after being caught I think we needed to know who it was from the beginning. It is more cool to know he is a serial killer while he creates bonds with other characters as well. It doesn't work with all the killers, but for this one that is close to the protagonists, I believe it did. They did not reveal the next one so quickly.
