Here i am with a conversation between hong ye and fugi(cheng yi) who is his son with Huaizhu:

Fugui (angrily):
“You talk about discipline. Duty. Bloodlines. But you—you—loved her. Dongfang Huaizhu. And no one stopped you!”

Hongye (calm but cold):
“And I lost her. You know how that story ended.”

Fugui:
“Yes, I do! And you still go back to the Huai Shui Pavilion every Qixi! You still stand there, grieving! Don’t tell me you forgot how it feels!”

Hongye:
“That is precisely why I will not allow you to follow the same path. Love... weakens you. Clouds judgment. Makes you reckless.”

Fugui:

Hongye (voice low, trembling slightly):

So i'm gonna cry the whole season 3 for my poor cheng yi AGAIN AND AGAIN😭😭😭😭😭

Actually from what i saw in the videos of sword and beloved he is still alive and forcing cheng yi to forget about all emotions and calling him useless after he falls in love with that spider girl(yi tong's character)
There is also a touching conversation which i've seen between cheng yi and his dad about not letting him love another person🥲

Apparently She suffered from a severe internal injury or spiritual depletion

So from what i understand Dongfang Huaizhu will die while giving birth to Wangquan Hong Ye's son(cheng yi's role) and well During childbirth, Huaizhu fell gravely ill. Despite hong ye's desperate attempts to save her, she succumbed to her condition, leaving behind their newborn son, Wangquan Fugui(cheng yi). Her death devastated Hong ye, leading him to suppress his emotions and adopt a strict, emotionless demeanor. He channeled his grief into training Fugui to be a ruthless demon-slayer, believing that emotions were a weakness that led to his own loss😭😭😭
