he know hijiri went abroad when they bid farewell on the phone at the ferriswheel. akira prob got her detail from…
Lol I almost punched my screen when she signed it. I knew from the moment they brought it up it’d be signed ????
Ohhhh my kanji is horrible so I didn’t catch that. Wow that actually makes it worse. I really dislike the moms character.

I highly agree that this was super unsatisfying. Especially when they try to make Akira's mom to be entirely righteous…
Yea the time skip gave me some relief that at least it wasn’t going to end with the Ferris wheel however it was just such a cop out. Really? You had to do another time skip?
I honestly want to know why they played it so safe. I mean I’m fine with his moms decision, I just think the way it had to be played out was lame. To me it did not seem like maturity that Akira decides to listen and simply bear life without Hijiri for another 5 years. It just made me think the message is older people are always right, society’s rules are always right. Follow those and then maybe you can be happy.

Yea but she didn’t give him details. I guess I am just salty lol.
Yea his mom really disappointed me. I really did not like how they tried to make it seem like his mom was right. I just think she doesn’t think non-familial love is important tbh, look at her own relationship(s).
I’m glad it was happy but it felt a bit rushed. I think I would have been more satisfied seeing the growth they experienced in the 5 years and how they changed. All we got was perceived change. His mom must’ve had some kind of growth too or she finally accepted the truth (that they are in love). Maybe they’ll make a special or a movie :-3 lol

That was a completely UNSATISFYING ending.
I must not be a real adult because I don’t understand. If I had an 18 year old I’d be ok with it. As long as he went to college and showed me he was for real. Also I would have ran over to the one I love too if I thought I’d never see them again. It’s not immature! I 100% got why they had to wait in the beginning he was only 15, that totally makes sense. But if my kid loved that person for 3 years and they didn’t see each other I’d know it was for real!
I need a more clear cut ending. Did his mom after 5 years say yo Hijiri is teaching abroad here’s her details? Or did he say yo mom it’s been 5 years I still love her can you get over it?
Ugh I’m happy they got together in the end but it’s unrealistic at this point. They romanticized this story in a way I did not enjoy. I get it, with time apart they found themselves but I think it would have happened if everyone wasn’t bringing them down. Idk I get it but I truly didn’t enjoy it.

That’s incorrect though. The police officer says charges on seduction. Which ends at age 18. 20 is adult in…
I checked ????
Kidnapping is lame. I would have been more interested in a charge of seducing a minor! That makes way more sense that kidnapping! So you can say your child is kidnapped after 10 minutes....lol

Weird I swear the police in the show said yuwaku not yukai....guess I’ll have to watch that part again. You have to wait a certain number of hours before you can call the police about kidnapping.....so that would be really strange that they decided to make it that charge....

But how does Haraguchi being pregnant have anything to do with Hijiri and police.
Didn’t they say yuwaku not yukai?
She is not being charged for kidnapping but on seduction

is it not allowed to have a separate life in japan? wtf. mind your own business. teachers got lives too, why is…
It’s not necessarily based on if you’re ugly lol. It varies.

He should go to university. Love doesn't last forever. He should focus on his future instead of playing Romeo.…
Education doesn’t last forever either lol. We all die. And you haven’t been paying attention Hijiri wants him to go to school and he understands he should go as well. And going to uni doesn’t automatically set anyone up for success! That idea is naive.

Actually the legal age of adulthood in Japan in 20... So Akira is still a minor everyone!!! T___T He cannot get…
That’s incorrect though. The police officer says charges on seduction. Which ends at age 18. 20 is adult in terms of getting to do all the adult things, however 18 is an adult just like the US. like real adult age is 21 here but legally 18.
He can marry a 16 year old if he wanted to, idk about signing a lease.
I’m not sure if being in HS plays a role though. I think that is why he may be considered a minor.

Arrrrgh, episode 10 is so frustrating. When Kuroiwa breaks up with with Hijiri, i just want to slap his face.…
He broke up because of what Kawai said to him though. He thought teaching was her #1 dream.

Longevity. It’s not just teaching, any job is hesitant to hire a young woman full time because they will just quit. They directly reference this idea in a different episode.
Japan is also misogynistic. Men are still top dog there. That is why their rate of harassment and such is so high. Even her mentor teacher told her she should dress feminine, I highly doubt she would tell a male teacher not to dress masculine.

Also it’s not just her life. In Japan image is everything. That is why you must submit a photo on your resume, companies have the right to deny you based on looks alone.

Like any country Japan is certainly not perfect.

This is BS. Hijiri says she wants to live a life true to herself but still lied to Akira. Lie to the world for like what half a year.....she could have stayed a teacher if she truly wanted to. Legit he’s about to graduate some months is nothing compared to THREE YEARS. I get she values her love and truthfulness but wow. Someone reported them! I’m guessing Kawai, or surprise is Runa ???? Mom is unlikely not cause she passed by them but doesn’t she want to keep her relationship with her son??

I love this drama but when things take a very unrealistic or unreasonable turn I get so disappointed. If this not have a happy ending I’m gonna say episode 9 was the true ending lol.

I’m also hella confused. They are assumingly going to charge her for seducing a minor but the age to bybass Japans corruption of minors is 16-18, depending on the prefecture. Um last I checked they haven’t had sex. So what in God’s name could they prosecute her for? And lol I’m sorry it seems dumb to have age of consent be freaking 13 but then throw in a corruption law. Just raise the age of consent.....or what you say? You just want to be able to cherry pick who you arrest? I’m sorry for this rant but as a half Japanese person Japan is extremely sexist. Just the ratings on this versus if the teacher was a man is so different. Ugh

What Runa said kinda bothers me cause it was right before the beach scene. ‘They are student and teacher. No one will allow it to happen they have no future together.’ That better not be foreshadowing! Hopefully it was just a typical jealously scene. Honestly what that girl told her was a home run. She doesn’t have a chance and she did waste her time on a 3 year unrequited love.

People are so worried but are still in the past. His mom is in the past, Kawai, Runa. They seem to not want to move forward.

Can anyone clarify all the different honorifics? For example Hijiri's ex-fiance is the only one who calls her…
It’s not always about closeness but how each individual views respect. Some people still put San at the end of the first name and they are married. Not because they aren’t close but that is just how the person is.
Also his friends hasn’t seen him in a few years so calling him by his first name might be too much. And some people call each other by their first name right away.
Unless it’s a professional relationship it truly does vary from person to person. Thus most Japanese dramas reflect this.

I’d explain in more detail but it’s hard to type it out lol. Hope this makes sense!

Lol I started watching this first then so many comments about CN I had to check that out. Romantically I like CN much better, it’s sweet and it made me believe they loved each other because they stood the test of time. Unlike this story where it is about sex from the very beginning. I want to say that this I enjoyed in terms of cinematography and I just want to see what happens in the end....

Ahhhh ep 9 was so good. I’m tired of people getting in the way. It’s was wrong before but he’s 18 now, there’s no crime and it’s not like she was trying to get him back for the past 3 years. She tried to move on, they both did. But they love each other :’)
I think I hate Kawai, he actually has no reason to be a jealous jerk. Like you have someone wonderful that you’re treating poorly. No wonder she dumped him...

Y'know... i really wanna slap the heck out of shotarou and akira's mom like seriously... they're just so annoying…
Well his mom is desperate. She feels as though it’s her fault Akira stopped talking to her, it’s irrational he was already troubled because she was never honest about his dad. Yes Hijiri was wrong but he kissed her, technically speaking she didn’t commit a crime so I mean that’s why she didn’t go to jail. And she did stop seeing him.
The weird thing to me is, it’s been 3 years...obviously he loves her THREE. YEARS. hope mom wakes up soon lol
