I actually really liked this drama! The main couple has great chemistry, every scene between them just works. The second couple are terrible, toxic people, but they love each other so much that they could easily have their own spin-off. And then there’s the third couple, who are simply adorable!
The OST is amazing, the acting feels convincing, and even though the story is full of clichés, somehow everything fits together perfectly. Plus, it ends with a nice hook for another season!
Can someone tell me why ML chose FL? How does he fall in love? I just started watching and I find the story kinda…
The story becomes very clear by episode 5. The first four episodes are mostly world-building and exposition, setting up the characters and the universe. After that, everything starts connecting and the plot really takes off.
We’ll also soon learn Ji Bozai’s real motivations and get to know him a lot better. This drama is very good!
Just binge-watched the first 3 episodes... but I can't really get into it. Idk... something about the writing…
I get that it’s not for everyone, but the story becomes very clear by episode 5. The first four episodes are mostly world-building and exposition, setting up the characters and the universe. After that, everything starts connecting and the plot really takes off.
We’ll also soon learn Ji Bozai’s real motivations and get to know him a lot better, which adds a whole new layer to the story. Maybe it just didn’t click with you, and that’s totally fine, not every drama fits everyone’s taste. But honestly, you should at least watch until episode 5 or 6 before drop it.
Does it get better after ep 2 it’s kinda slow ? How is the drama doin in china ?
Yes, the pacing improves significantly after episode 4. The first few episodes primarily serve as world-building and character exposition, which can feel slow if you’re waiting for the central conflict to begin. From episode 5 onward, the narrative becomes much clearer, the plot threads start connecting, and the emotional dynamics between the leads deepen.
In China, the drama is doing quite well in terms of online engagement. On social media, within two hours of airing, its Weibo index exceeded 80 million.
You might be right about watching more. But a person's familiarity with a subject, their liking, excitement, curiosity,…
That’s fair, not every drama clicks with everyone. But since your review was called “Searching for a plot,” I just think it’s a bit unfair to say that when you stopped at episode 3. The plot really starts to take shape around episode 5, once all the world-building and setup are done.
It’s not about forcing yourself to watch six episodes, it’s just giving the story a bit of time to build up naturally instead of dumping everything right away. I’m a millennial and my brother is too, and we both ended up really enjoying it.
Anyway, hope your next drama fits your taste better!

FL is very pretty, but since she acted like a male in her younger years, shouldn't she have that sort of image?…
Not every warrior or "male" character needs to be rough or boyish. In the flashback when she met Situ, she wasn’t boyish at all, just a normal, polite, and helpful person.
And honestly, Situ himself isn’t manly either, he’s pretty delicate and feminine, but he still wants to be a warrior. Getting power wouldn’t change his personality or how he talks. That’s just who they are.
It is so good, each episode just keeps getting better! The plot really starts at episode 5, the first four are more about introducing the world and the characters and they are very fun!
And Thank you!
This drama is very good!
